We should reuse hydroelectric plants to power stations like these, while moving the grid towards Nuclear energy. Also, to those in the comments section berating carbon capture technology, I would point out that no amount of trees is going to capture all the carbon we burned from deposits in which it was stored safely for millennia. One plant over a short period of time won’t fix the problem, but it’s a start.

Ah... so it is not cows or people... it is oil and gas refineries emitting the CO2. If this oil and gas refinery after combining the Amine molecule with the final gas admission of the refining process... can't this same Amine combining technology be miniturized and placed in every car exaust system? This would end the need for these highly expensive factories.

I cant be the only one that understands... WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO CREATE SYNTHETIC FUEL OIL WITH RENEWABLE ENERGY... THE RENEWABLY GENERATED SYNTHETIC FUEL CAN REPLACE MINED OIL. IT IS A BAD IDEA TO INJECT OIL INTO THE GROUND. THAT IS A RELATIVELY IRREVERSIBLE PROCESS... WHEN IT COMES TO THE EFFECT ON ENVIRONMENT, REVERSIBILITY IS IMPORTANT. COMPLETING THE CYCLE OF ENERGY USAGE WITH ENERGY CAPTURE IS THE BEST WAY!

How much carbon was created making that facility? If the liquid carbon leaks how badly will that result in the acidification of the oceans that are already dying? Does it run on solar? Why not just invest that money into solar incentive's instead? How much does one capture facility cost to make? How many solar panels could be built in its place? How many forests had to be cut down to make room for it? How many carbon capturing forests could you have planted for the same money? How much carbon does it take to get out one tonne of carbon? Would one nuclear plant be better than all this work to give yourselves an excuse to keep using oil? Your economist didn't economize nothing, just spread propaganda.

with due respect, most of your "suggested solutions" are just media hypes with absolutely no real-world connection. and BTW, the world needs fossil fuels for many other reasons than energy too.
