@@jcheck6 I think Jim Hall & Smokey Yunick were more the engineers to compare these guys to. Shelby, after his retirement from active driving competition, was an exceptional manager of his environment. He hired some phenomenal engineers and designers though... Pete Brock, Phil Remington, to name just a couple. Mike is his own "Imagineer," designer, engineer, fabricator, and keeper/controller of all that random energy. If it ever all escapes at once, it's gonna make a hell of a mess all over the floor!!!! ;^)

Ha! Agreed. I loved Mike's pure joy at 11:37, when he says with a smile: "I think, about 5-6 hours sanding on this one" and he says it so matter-of-factly (i.e. Without sounding exasperated as us mere mortals often do).

@@The_JEB Yeah, but even that was HEAVILY modified. Don't get me wrong, I love this project, and usually watch the videos within an hour of them being published. But this isn't Junkyard Wars... it is instead a completely custom project built around a few major parts.

I'd start with Fusion360, it'll give you a good base and there's a ton of good tutorials. Depending on income(less than $100k) or associations with academia you can use it for free, otherwise it's $300 per year for standard software package.

If you register as a hobbiest when you download Fusion 360 it is free. That’s what I did.

Just think of a Stol drag race, Mike start with the shocks at low height setting, a low preassure charge, just enought travel for takeoff gathering speed faster because of a flater angle of attack, and near take of speed, Mike will use Air pressure from the oxygen bottle to have the 2 shocks jumping out to full lengt with both up 15-18" uptravel to get the front of Scrappy at a steeper angle of attack. Those lowrider jumping cars would get jealous.. how high scrappy jumps.. And with the AirshotBoom Scrappy goes airborne with a 1 scrappy + a Mike mass movement.. this will eat a good chunk out of his of his starting distance. or with Mikes oversized engine and Mad Prop.. (cant imagine how much countersteer this combo will need..torque wise ) Scrappy might jumpstart and is a ZTSL zeroTakeoff short landing Plane and for landing, he just sets the shocks preassure back to lower soft impound eating level. And the best part for mike, its just some bigger and extra airlines, a electic solenoid to open the oxcgenbottle(a preassure regulater perhaps to adjust the jump strenght) , and an 3 way valve and an eletronic preassure adjuster valve to set his desired landing suspension setting. 1 st setting be closed at jumpstart when the bottle kicks in, 2nd setting preassure regulated after jump start and for landing, and the 3rd way would be hooked up to the engines mainfold for vaccum to the shocks to tow in the suspension to max compression in flight to get the most use out of the suspension wings. And i´m pretty sure its air controlled since might is stingy as a scotsman when it comes to weight, so its not hydraulic.

This kind of comment comes up regularly on a few channels like this I watch, and sadly, if Mike was to take his show on TV, it would be wrecked totally by some idiot producer trying to generate drama or dumbing down explanations of technical things, or worse still just not show the interesting bits. I love that we can watch and directly support him here on KZfaq.

I like the fact that there are no commercials! History or Discovery channel have way to many commercials.
