What Cardi said isn’t ok for a few reasons. 1. If a white model had said the designer is “black and everything” people would immediately say that’s a very ignorant (and potentially completely racist) thing to say. As though someone’s race is just a “fun” little accessory. So to me, it should be no different than what Cardi said. It’s still problematic. If she had said something like “I’m proud to be a part of minority fashion representation because the designer is Asian, and that’s really important to me” or something like that, then sure. That’s totally different than “he’s Asian and everything”. Also, I know many theorize that she forgot his name. I don’t think she did. She worked so closely with him. I makes me wonder, how could she forget? I think she just decided not to try and say it. And then in her response video say “it’s complicated”.
