I was initially peeved that the 4.0 update remapped the function buttons. I had just become pretty competent with the way they were, despite some clearly crazy mappings. One of the really crazy one was that you had to STOP music or radio playback BEFORE you could even turn the units off. Stopping playback by holding the fortward/back playback button was not intuitive. Using the roller wheel to stop was a great idea. I think these changes make GREAT sense and will greatly facilitate comprehension/memory among new users. As with any feature-rich system with only three buttons, you have to give yourself time to make the various button sequences part of "muscle memory." That said, this new PackTalk system with DMC is truly amazing. Soo much better than the G9/G9x units. Sadly, I fear that many abandoned Cardo and went to Sena hoping it would be better only to find that though it was "simpler" it was not a whole lot better. I fear that many who departed may be reluctant to come back. However, based on my experience with the PackTalk and DMC comms, I am happy I stayed Cardo and gave the PackTalk a chance. It is really great.

Hi Cardo community manager! I would like to share my very bad experience with Cardo. First, this is very frustrating to read a release note for SmartPack, try to upgrade and upgrade is finally not yet available for SmartPack... Two, the naming SmartPack and SmartSet is very confusing! So for a newbie or a bad seller, it could be confusing and the consequences could be a disaster like we experienced.. Three, We bought, 1 year ago with my rider team, 6 duo pack of SmartPack. 12 devices... The seller was not aware of the fact that DMC is only working with 4 riders... They then told us an upgrade will come and will allow us to use DMC. This never happens and obviously, this seller is not working anymore. So we are stuck with 12 unusable devices... This limitation is ridiculous, especially when you see the price difference btw SmartPack and SmartSet 30$ per device... My question is : Do Cardo, will adjust this in a next firmware? Or Do Cardo plan to sell this as a software option that we can buy? Or should we just keep crying and riding alone until we bought something else?

I have the new 2018 Goldwing. You do not pair the unit to your phone. You pair the unit to the bike only. Your phone is paired to the bike and not to the communicator. My Sena 20s battery has become worthless and while it's possible to replace its battery, it is not an easy task and involves cutting wires and soldering. That is, if you can find a replacement battery in the first place. The PackTalk is looking like a good replacement choice, especially when I learned that I can use it in Bluetooth mode to intercom with my Sena friends, but also have DMC most of the time to intercom with my wife on the back. I would buy a pair if I made the move and I would really like to see the unit working on the new Goldwing, which takes care of phone and music choices and the PackTalk only needs to give me audio from the bike and handle intercom. Since I'll never use the built-in radio and music playing I would like to see a bare-bones and cheaper PackTalk for a bike like the new Goldwing. Other than hearing the audio from the bike and the intercom function, I'll never use all its other features. So, before I spend hundreds of dollars, I sure would like to see PackTalk working on the 2018 Goldwing.

The Season is young and till now I was only solo riding. I updated to 4.0 now and I can't see the big step forward. Ok, the sound is better and the app woks fine but is a bit mousy compared to the old one. If the button relocation was clever I can't say. Powering on and off with two buttons is fine but I don’t want press two buttons for voice commands. This will be the reason to don't use this feature anymore. Radio and Music handling is ok the rest I don't use during riding. Next is testing the Intercom with my buddies, I hope really that the annoying behavior of the GPS to interrupt intercom talks is gone.

The pop-up box doesn't show the "OK" button at the bottom on macbook air chrome unless you go to settings tab and zoom out to 80%.

Thanks for the update. I'm really looking forward to trying it, but at the moment it's still too cold to ride a motorcycle in Germany. Unfortunately, the new Android app crashes on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 using the intercom functionality. A reboot of the Note 8 and a Bluetooth decoupling and repairing did not bring any improvement. I would also like to make a suggestion for improvement. For me the Packtalk 3.x firmware version always disturbed me very much that the navi announcement always had priority over Intercom. That should be switchable. I would like to give Intercom priority over the navi announcement, because I can still see the route on the display of the navigation system, but the communication with my Intercom partners is always interrupted when there is a navi announcement.

You can make it better if you add side tones, I swapped from SENA but really miss the ability to hear myself like on a telephone when I’m talking. The faster you the louder you talk.

Wow. I just updated my FREECOM 2 and the experienced changed drastically. I can clearly hear my friend, whereas before the sound and mic quality was not so great. I noticed on the iPhone app, the firmware listed at the bottom did not update to 2.2. Did I do something wrong?

Nice try. Every time I try to update it fails. Error code F04. End of story. Nothing works. Somehow this was missing in the video.

Why are you removing functions in your updates and still advertise them on your product page? Click-To_link for example. Release notes on the update state that it's retired, yet you still boast it as a key feature on the PACKTALK product page. Keep going, currently considering Sena.

I have put messages in almost every video about Cardo on here I can find yet never get a response.. I have four Units for training...I hope..Cannot get my Admin Unit to respond to voice commands and also cannot pair to a Sena Bluetooth unit even though I have followed the instructions...The manual is very unclear in many ways for instance does not give a step by step guide on how to this or that it skips steps probably assuming you know what to do. Some of us need real simple instructions...PLEASE HELP

A few questions (im coming from the g9x, now new to the packtalk): -is a different BT pairing neccessary for the gps or does ist work the same like pairing a smartphone? -when i'm in a constant DMC conversation is it possible to listen to musik AND get commands from the GPS System without getting thrown out of the conversation? Especially getting commands from the GPS while in conversation was a big issue with the g9x Thanks! :-)

The new firmware upgrade is a great improvement. However there are still difficulties to connect additional devices except phone such navigation system and the other BT devices such my new BMW TFT screen mounted on 2018 models... Any chance you will release an update to solve this? Or explain here how to connect multiple devices? Thanks!

Hello, I have a problem of not being able to connect my Freecom 4 in the Cardo Community. I access the Cardo Comunity and when I insert the USB cable the Freecom 4 turns on the red light but continues the message on the page of the Cardo Community that there is no Connected Dismissal. I already removed one of the Freecom 4 units I had registered and reconnected the USB cable to see if it was recognized and registered again but nothing happens, it still does not recognize that it is connected to the USB port. What should I do? I am waiting for information because I will travel and I needed to update the two units.

Hi, my computer does not recognize my scalarider packtalk unit. So I cannot upgrade the unit via the cardo community page. Which it did/could before. I don't know why. I searched the net for the CARDO UPDATER to re install it. But could not find any resource for downloading. Can you please help me with that. PS: I tried different data cables too. And it connects on other computers so i think its because of the updater is not here anymore. Thank you.

Is it possible have an a conversation and share-listen the same music at the same time?

Will the regular Packtalk get the Natural Voice feature, since it´s only a software upgrade? It´s annoying triggering the voice command listen mode by coughing or making any undesired sound and cut the audio stream.

The app indicates my smartpack has an update available. I connect the device to my pc, load the cardo updater page with the cardo updater running on my system, the webpage shows new upgrade available, but I'm unable to click the link. I've tried this in Internet Explorer and Opera. Any ideas?

According to the website the update should also be available for the Smartpack. However when I try to update it says that the firmware version 3.2 is already up to date. Is it because I am in the Dutch region? I’d like to update my device so I can use the new app.

Pairing without the APP. What did it change from previous firmware version? It seems, according to the new quick guide, that the second intercomunicador makes exactly the same procedure than the administrador . Is that correct or the previous procedure is maintained (version 3.2). rgds

Trying to figure out something. My friend also has this problem. Bought a packtalk about 2 months ago, fitted correctly, working in DMC mode, but unit makes a terrible din while at speed ie wind noise. Ear damaging stuff. I had a g9x , never made this noise, so I'm wondering does this unit have ambient mike that is somehow feeding through outside noise? Ideas or help would be hugely appreciated. Also is there a cardo or packtalk forum?

It looks like it's downgrade in functionality. Yes, key map has changed, but nothing was added, and several functions were removed, like Click-to-link, 8+1 and so on. Is it worth to update to 4.0??

I have a BMW 1200 GSA with TFT and a brand new Cardo packtalk bold and although it connects to most things the audio does not work for calls through the LCD, it will answer the call but there’s no audio. Audio works perfect for Music but not for calls, Considering the BMW is one of the worlds biggest selling bikes you would think it’s important to have something that works, is there a fix for this? There’s a lot of complaints of this problem online.

Hello, I'm hoping you can help. I bought the Smartpack system for my Dad and I but he's encountering an annoying problem. While we're riding with the comms connected in DMC mode, his device is constantly giving off two beeps every 15 seconds or so. Do you know what this is and how to stop it? This happens when the devices are fully charged as well.

A simple question: To have intercom only between pilot and passanger, what mode is the best? Bluetooth or DMC? why?

Does anyone else the problem where music just stop for 20/30 seconds for no reason? I was hoping this update would fix this problem but t hasn't. I would appreciate any feedback on this issue if anyone has any. Cheers

After the update, there was a problem with phone calls. In order to answer a call I press the button on the headset, but the sound is played through the phone. In order to hear the interlocutor through the headset, you have to press the button again. It is very uncomfortable. Nokia 5 (android OS)

Nice update, but I miss some "old" features , like the voice control or radio scan. The new operability is good, but pushing two buttons (for on/off) is not practical. I think about to get back to 3.2. Why do I share music for communication?

Hello, I have updated firmware 4.0 in my packtalk, it connects to my cell phone (iphone x) but the application does not connect to the communicator, I use all the functions of the communicator with the cell phone, however I can not connect to the app and I also can not turn off the communicator on the same button as before.

are there any plans to use music from outside apps? i'd love to be in the cardo app and see my spotify music on there.

Why are you using both hands to change settings? Why don't you show this video with unit mounted on helmet and using left fingers only to change settings like in the real world?

I was trying to update my packtalk with the latest firmware. It gave error #D02 & then the cardo community is not able to detect it. I tried disconnecting & reconnecting, restarted my laptop, reinstalled cardo updater, tried on a different laptop, tried with different cable but cardo updater keeps prompting " start connection, dont disconnect headset" & then "Device is switched off"

winter almost over so i started to upgrade the whole thing....finally success the only comment ist, it is not possible to acces the music library, on my andorid phone i have to select the music i want, prior switching to music on the app but if i want to skip a song the app switches to another Album leaving the Playlist previously selected, maybe a bug ?

Frustrating bad upgrade, this 4.0. Have wasted my day trying to get the my phone and my TomTom 450 rider to work together with my PACKTALK. TomTom says 'Pairing successfully' but still would not connect headset. Tried to remove BT devices do all over again, same thing happens. On your web site, I find: Press and hold 'media and intercom' for factory reset, actually you have to hold all three buttons active for a while to get the factory reset. Also confusing is, using community web interface: Under 'MY PROFILE' you can assign the unit a name, (welcome name spoken when device turned on) and you can assign a blue tooth device name under GENERAL SETTINGS. Why should a user have to assign his device with two names? To confuse even more, the BT name you assign under GENERAL SETTINGS, is actually prefixed with 'PT' . But if you assign a BT name via the APP, the 'PT ' prefix seems not to automatically be included. And since I bought the Duo, connecting both device to the PC at the same time I strongly recommend not to do, you never knows which device you are syncing when editing the parameters. If you are not a blue tooth guru and a packtalk guru at the same time, it is a very time consuming task to figure out what are the limitations and what is possible. Also confusing, documentation says channel A and channel B, and channel 1 and channel 2 ... why the different notation?
