Wow! Gotta say I'm loving that Delta facility! It's huuuuge! I've done both heavy and line maintenance. Think I prefer heavy maintenance more though. Everyone ia different. I can't knock a guy/girl who loves line maintenance and the fast pace. I seem to have found a niche doing inspections. I find some shit!!! This was a 6 week heavy...nope...now it's a 6 month hanger queen. Your welcome!!! Safety first.

Join the Air Force. You get excellent training, an instant career, and entry level military aircraft maintainer pay and benefits beats the snot out of most civilian gigs. How many civilian maintenance gigs pay vested retirement at 20 years? Mighty few if any. One little mentioned but very nice aspect of Air Force maintainer life is flexible schedules and paid time off for appointments. Like a sore dick, ya can't beat it. Former Bronco, Phantom and F-16 Comm/Nav, motor toad (crosstraining is fun and you get paid to do that, too) and later crew chief (easy to make rank) here. Would do again gleefully. Unlike civilian outfits the Air Force isn't disturbed by recessions. I haven't felt one since 1981 when i enlisted. You'll hear a few maintainers snivel but some people would complain if they were having an orgasm. Military human networking builds post-USAF careers. My bros moved into DoD, contractor and civilian aircraft manufacturer gigs after their retirement, and collecting retirement plus another paycheck is sweet. (I'm fully retired due to non-work-related injury or I'd be in Saudi or UAE fixing fighters.) Working on aircraft is huge fun if you are a gearhead, and if you choose wisely you can have a very nice life.

Hey guys, i've been working for an aerospace company for 5 years now specializing in building wire harnesses and power drive units for mainly cargo planes. I want to further my career in aerospace to learn more and make more money for my family. I just have a hard time deciding on which would be the best route for me to take considering my experience at my current occupation. Any suggestions?? Thank you.

What a stupid video, I work for a aviation company doing military base maintenance on C-130 J's and I can tell you the job isn't all Sunshine's and roses. It's a hard job that requires you to be rather intelligent and dedicate your life to doing it for training. The wage is pretty poor in my opinion due to not being able to earn the big bucks till you are a certified tech (B1 - B2) but the requires money out of your own pocket as well as all module exams complete which their are over ten and 5 YEARS experience prior before they even take you into consideration. So as a mechanic you are looking at around 24 - 32k a year but as a tech anywhere from 42 - 100k plus depending on the company. But remember the responsibility of a B1 is massive. If that aircraft goes down during flight because you missed a snag then you will be going to prison for a life sentence. Just because of the above, if I was to go back in time I wouldn't do this job. Do a office job, they pay far more with little work, risk, and better benefits.
