Search for a new Grand Cherokee: goo.gl/iOycPg
From the Wrangler that can pretty much go anywhere, and do it with the roof off, to the 4th-generation Grand Cherokee, Jeep represents an American motoring ideal. Jeep's outstanding off-road capabilities plus its upscale interiors add up to a brand that has a long-running cachet in the minds of buyers. And the Grand Cherokee is the range-topping vehicle in Jeep's lineup.
The base engine in the Grand Cherokee-and the one we tested-is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. It makes 293 hp, sent through an 8-speed automatic transmission. You can also get a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that makes 360 hp or a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine that makes 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Power gets sent to the rear wheels or one of multiple 4-wheel-drive systems. Quadra-Trac I is the base system, which lacks the four-low option many drivers want. Quadra-Trac II offers low-range, neutral (for shifting into four-low), and has a 4-All-Time mode, which operates as full-time 4-wheel drive.
Then you’ve got Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4-wheel-drive system, which can be found on the Trailhawk. This drivetrain features a two-speed transfer case and an electronic limited-slip rear differential. That’s the type of off-road equipment many folks look for, but then Jeep ups it with an awesome air suspension system, which is also standard on the Trailhawk. Air suspension isn’t something that was once ideal for an off-road vehicle, but rather luxury cars. Now many SUVs offer it for a blend of on-road comfort and off-road capability. I own a 2018 GC Laredo 3.6 V6 it is near silent and drives as smooth as a good quality mid size car, only far more fun and it has way better bad weather performance. It gets mid 20's gas mileage too which is very. A Grand Cherokee is very much refined for every day driving than say a Wrangler.

We absolutely love our 2017 grand cherokee limited it drive great and the 3.6 v6 we average 20mpg and 26 on the hwy have had zero problems .its very comfortable and i love how it moves the seat and steering wheel for 2 separate drivers. It is the nicest car we ever owned .and we have had many. The one thing we hate is the auto engine off at stop lights .but we have gotten used to turning it off as soon as we start it. Happy GC owners

I love my jeep I went from the Subaru to a jeep and I'll never go back!!! I will have a jeep for life!!! My 2002 is still a beast, they are easy to work in and man even tho they are so simple ( 2002) they are still so very comfortable. I just bought a brand new Cherokee, I had no idea about the trail one or I would have gotten it, but needless to say, I'm still so impressed with my two keeps. I still drive both, my new one has 12,000 miles and my 2002 has a whooping 200k plus, and still laughs at the snow, is still a quite, easy drive, and has no rust and has never been garage kept. My 2002 is still advanced enough ( will all new headlights and covers) to look nice along with the newer cars on the road. My kids still ask me to take the old one out, for long car rides, because it's a guarantee that they will fall asleep comfortably.

aubrey Aubrey What Jeep did you recently purchase and is it not as comfortable as your 2002? I’m just looking to get a Jeep but I’ve never driven one and there are so many options idk what to get. I’m looking at the gc limited or summit. Never thought to look at the trail hawk, but my interest is piqued now. I’ve also never driven a car over 100k miles. I can’t even fathom driving over 200k miles. I’ve been looking at some cpo jeeps that are selling with over 100k miles and I’m thinking, how much more life could it possibly have. You have opened my eyes. Thank you

not sure how Trailhawk is any different from other models. I got an Overland with the off-road package that has all the same features listed in this video. Cost was the same too, 50+. So I think all of these "models" are just for marketing purposes. It's really the same car underneath with different configurations added on top. It is true, though, that Laredo in its cheapest manifistation drives completely different from the Overland that I got. I rented it once and would've never bought a jeep based on that experience.

The Trailhawk adds tow hooks, fatter tires, and a more capable drivetrain without forcing you to spend more on luxury features present in the Overland or Summit. That said I think Jeep offers way too many trims to the point where even Jeep enthusiasts can’t keep the differences in order.

I know you're replying to Peter, but I thought I'd chip in. My MSRP was ~48k and I negotiated down to 43k (USD). I'm assuming when you say $60k you're talking AUS or CAN? It's honestly a good vehicle. I am betting on the fact that I think the zf transmission and pentastar 3.6L will both be super reliable, because I'd really like for this to last me quite a while.

Sounds Awesome, Brotato!!! My friends vehicle was an '86 Toyota pickup. Indestructible little truck, but like every other 4x4 it can still get stuck and it did. So we made a campfire and waited for his brother to come pull the Toyota out. His brother ended up getting a flat. Luckily he had a spare. There are several more little details, but that about sums it up. Good Times :)

Hi George, thanks for your reply. Im from South Africa, the one im looking is 2012 JGC 3.6 Overland with 62.500 Miles and its about $30.000. Im not sure if i buy it or not, the more i read the reviews is the more im getting lost, im not sure if people are making things look worse or its such a bad vehicle, i see complains about transmission, electric parts, leaks and many others. Have you ever owned a JCG? I love the looks tho but as my 1st car, i need to be sure im not buying LEMONS, as it took me 3 years to save the cash.

People that say its u reliable are biased. One is more likely to write a bad review than a good one. I recently went onto edmunds to read reviews. Noticed that on cars that ppl say are 100% reliable. I could find the exact negative reviews on those cars as well. I say buy what you like and stop listening to others opinions. I have owned a cherokee trail hawk since 2018. No major issues. But my 2013 honda on the other hand. Cant count how many times its been in the shop. Sad part is. The honda is hardly driven. I have almost as many miles on the jeep.

These Jeeps have serious transmission issues. Shifting is erratic, downshift are rough and bang into gear. I have had three software updates done on my 2015 and the transmission valve body was just replace, but the problems persist. Just be aware of this if you are considering purchasing one. My dealer told me he has had as many as 16 Grand Cherokees in his shop at the same time with transmission issues. This is on top of the transmission "park" issue.
@JJ_ExMachina
@JJ_ExMachina 6 жыл бұрын
Transmission park issue had to do with the new style shift lever, not with the vehicle failing to go into park. People just could not figure out how to properly operate the new style ratchining shift lever, and would leave the vehicle in reverse, and run themselves over when getting out of the vehicle.

romaromina it wasn’t the truck, it was the transmission that was used across most dodge cars. Since 2016 it’s been changed completely.
@JJ_ExMachina
@JJ_ExMachina 6 жыл бұрын
It was a new type, shifting lever, that would ratchet back to the center position. People were having a hard time making sure that their car was in park before they got out, thus running themselves over. There was nothing wrong with the vehicle or the transmission, just a new way to select gears... guess some people could not figured it out, so the manufacture went back to a traditional shifter.

This video isn't a review, it's an advertisement. This guy is a total brown-noser. What a crock of crap. I bought this car, and I hate it. Build quality sucks. Leans horribly in corners compared to my old Nissan Pathfinder and the X5 I drove. 4 wheel drive system and dynamic stability control gave me error messages the first time I took it in the snow (less than 500 miles on the car). If one wheel is not getting traction, the car won't move. Even my 1969 Camaro did better than that, it had posi-traction. I can't even get up my driveway unless I have a running start. I called Jeep and they said, "take it to the dealer." Now the auto-off feature has also failed at 2000 miles. My dealer service appointment is finally coming up and I'll see how many days it needs to be in the shop. The exterior finish quality is terrible; for example, the chrome on the doors doesn't line up, the gas filling cover is not flush to the body, etc. Interior is actually very nice if you can get past the incessant need to accept the "terms of service" on the monitor before the backup camera is visible. So disappointed. I've never commented on a video before, but this guys nose was so far up Jeep's butt I had to say something.

Not buying ANY of this. I am a REAL owner ('15 GC Overland w/ Hemi) and there's no way you have these issues on a brand new Jeep GC. Go troll elsewhere. Only way any of what you say is true is if you bought a used lemon that had issues due to neglect from a previous owner.
@Pilot545
@Pilot545 7 жыл бұрын
Another reason I think you are shoveling s**t here is...who the hell "calls Jeep" when they have issues with their, supposedly, brand new vehicle? Any time I have an issue with a vehicle I bought, I call the dealer first...always. So, again...don't believe a word you said here.
@Pilot545
@Pilot545 7 жыл бұрын
Dude...don't believe him. I can't think of a single BRAND NEW vehicle built today that is as bad as this guy says. Even the cheapest car isn't that bad. Modern car manufacturers generally have their crap squared away for the most part. You just don't see issues like this guy is saying on BRAND NEW vehicles. He's a troll.
@peterbaltaxe8199
@peterbaltaxe8199 7 жыл бұрын
I'm a REAL owner too! You are claiming that because you haven't had problems with your car, then it is not possible for anyone else of have had problems? If that were true, all Jeep dealers would now be out of business, because they make their money on service, and there would also be no value in the warranty. (You must be a Jeep employee troll). I have a video of the car failing to make it up my dry cement driveway on a sunny day. One wheel is slightly off the ground and just spins about once a second, pauses, then spins again, while the car sits still or rolls slightly backward. I sure as hell hope it is not working as designed. It was in the shop for two days and they claimed they couldn't replicate the problem, so I made the video, and it is going back to the shop in two days. They did replace the misaligned trim. Can't tighten up the fuel cover, apparently. They reset something and the auto-off feature appears to be working again. Regarding the leaning in the corners, you might try driving some other cars for comparison. I called a parts shop at a dealer right after I bought the car and asked if I could add pressure to the shocks or buy some stiffer suspension parts, and when I complained about the lean, the Jeep parts guy said "the GCs are famous for that." I am glad you are happy with your car. I wish I was.
