Carl you are the man I love that you are back. You are fully back and real and raw and have such a gift to communicate. Christians need to take this come back as a time to connect with each other, be real and know that no matter what we can be ok. You have shown me to never give up on myself and never stop pushing. No one is perfect and I love how you have been human on a public level. Really are my hero.

In the African Community these conversations are not happening. My father had 3 wives and the trauma, harm and betrayal we had to endure and witness has forever damaged my family. but that was normalized and considered ok. You are giving an insight on how you and your children have healed from something many will never be able to. Also have to echo some of the others this was my favorite episode and your best guest. Irina really gave insight while even opening up and sharing her own personal experience. You all went deep and we felt it. nice work B-side ! :)

Another q: I'm actually a teenager, and I love watching your guys' podcast. The honesty is so refreshing, praise the Lord. I want to ask : What can someone do if their sibling is struggling with mental health as far as creating an environment where hope is existent and healing is easier, but also not enabling whatever caused/causes the breach in their mental health? (Keeping in mind that Said sibling has already gone to all the resources that can be afforded by the parents)

As a parent of two children who have grappled with eating disorders and self-harm, I recognize the paramount importance of this dialogue. I love this podcast!!! Cant stop watching! I need more of this Irina therapist so informative and so much education I literally had to grab a pen and taking notes!! LOVE HER! Thank you Carl and Laura for taking the time to help parents with this type of education. The best episode so far we need more of her!!

10:51 such a good point. I grew up like this and the way I reacted wasn't leaned helplessness but perfectionism. My parents chastised me a lot when I got things wrong and it made me overcompensate. I ended up going to an Ivy League college, graduate school, and have a great job -- all things I couldn't have accomplished if I didn't have drive.... but it took me a long time to realize what the source of my drive was and why I had so much internal conflict even though outwardly it seemed like I was doing so well to everyone. ... I think the other thing people have to keep in mind about the advice from therapist or anyone who wants to help you with your kids, is that kids are all different. There is no kid who is the same as the other, reactions may be varied to these methods and tactics as well. W

I wish I had this information when I was raising my daughter trying to co parent with an addict in recovery but this is helping me now how to talk with her as a young adult. Can’t wait for the next episode!

I have a question, how do therapists ensure that they don’t project their trauma onto their clients/patients or even give guidance that comes from a place of their own trauma; is it a skill they acquire in their training?

Thank you all, I’ve learned so much! Irene, could you please advise me how to loving be present for a child who is 14, and says he does not want to be gay, but now he has a very supportive friend group who encourages the choice to be openly gay? I am not foolish to think that my husband and myself carry the influence with a teen child with all of the outside influences that currently exist. I just want to love him well, and of course control the outcome, lol! Thank you again♥️

31:24 "once you switch your role of a parent from trying to look good, to trying to serve, solely, things change" I had to pause to process this. I am not even a parent, I am only a daughter (a grownup one) and this episode has tremendously helped me consider how to address issues in my upbringing and in my relationship with my parents nowadays. The quote I highlighted above... I had to pause to process it. Amazingly well said.

Do you guys have tips on finding therapists?? I have tried a few, some are better than others, but the hardest part is finding a good faith based therapist! Because it is such a big and valuable part of my life, it feels hard to find someone that understands wanting to live a faith based life.

What does it look like to affirm how a child uses the phone and social media (in checking what they're doing periodically)?

How do those of us that really need the resources that You & Carl had like Onsight, The Rehab he went to, Your Betrayal Trauma therapist, Dr. Daniel Amen etc., Carl’s therapist that he had on the Pod….My husband and I are in desperate need of this level of resources but don’t have the finances for this level of care. How were you guys able to make this possible? Did insurance cover any of it? How can you guys guide others like myself and my husband?

Our boys were 7 & 9when husband and I went through infidelity, they are now 16 & 18. Do we need to tell them what we went through? If so how?
