I was fortunate enough to see Carlene in an outdoor concert here in Upstate NY in the late 1980's. My friend and I took a big bouquet of flowers to her bus, and asked the person who answered our knock, if they would give them to her. He shocked us both when he said, "Come on in and meet her!" You could have knocked us over with a feather! She was so kind and gracious to us, and one of the great joys in my life was to meet her. Those Carter genes run straight and true then and still today....love, love, love this lady...

Big applause! I am going on 73. Mother Maybelle was my greatest influence for picking a guitar. Like Carlene I learned to pick the Wildwood flower in famous Carter Scratch style. There weren't many female pickers as i was growing up....just me and Mother Mabelle, I suppose. I prayed i would meet her and when she passed away i prayed I'd meet her daughters and now they are gone to heaven. I am running out of time.......Carlene, it's up to you, kid! Lol. You make them all proud and me too. Thank you and God bless....
