I must say the cat really does take it's job of supervisor seriously. Throughout all the videos you can see inspections going on meticulously - no corner is left un-sniffed to ensure the jobs been done satisfactorily.

for me that grouting-material seems to be a little stiff and dry. So it takes much effort to press it into the gaps. But thats only my opinion and anyway: the result is what counts. And the result looks awsome!!

You do amazing Work.!! best thing on KZfaq.! a year or so ago, I have spent hours and hours on a French real estate sight online, just dreaming about buying one of those run down stone places' some looked beyond repair. but after seeing your videos, looking back, I guess they weren't so bad. I did the same thing too first time grouting - too much mud and spreading across whole tiles instead of pushing just into the cracks. I always add some sprinkles of water to the drying mix makes it easier to push in. Easier to buy grout, you don't have to invent the wheel.

so many similarities with our french home renovation.. im wondering how effective the seal is on the travertine floors longterm. currently uncertain if we use for a kitchen floor or not as ive seen so many photos of horrible dirty grouting after a few years of use

When grouting travertine tiles, I use a jointing bag and run it down the joints. This way it keeps he tiles cleaner and saves a vast amount of spongueing off.
@carlroge6 жыл бұрын
Good tip! These tiles weren't pre-filled so we had the grout all over - hence why it was so messy!
@mosswerner773 жыл бұрын
i would seal the stone before grouting..
@idontthinkso6662 жыл бұрын
@@mosswerner77 That is such a BAD IDEA. These tiles needed grout on the face (due to natural defects and voids) as well as in the joints between tiles. Presealing would have prevented the grout from adhering.

@mosswerner7710 ай бұрын
if you seal the stones before grout, it would make it so much easier for you
@garyallen11986 жыл бұрын
i have always found it easier to use a sweeping brush to clean off the excess grout.do it when the grout starts drying a light colour.brush across the joints not in the joints.once the worst of the grout has gone sponge the joints.leave till grout changes lighter in colour and once again dry off with dry rag.leave dry.one really dry pass with dry cloth to take off smears.

@gregorylawler5273 Жыл бұрын
Design tips - I did not like the grout color...too pale almond is better... and you don't need to seal the travertine against water damage as my terrace was unsealed for 12 months during the last winter the wettest ever recorded - I sealed mine against oil and stains ! Also, the rolled edge tiles look better in an old villa ... square cut edges are for modern villas :)

Omg sprinkle some water on that shit. You must be destroying your hands with that stiff grout. Good work though, looks nice.
@carlroge6 жыл бұрын
EvilleMonkey it's very coarse grout so the water content is as per the guidelines! It was the sponge that rubbed the skin off our fingertips believe it or not!
@dozdeshabb6 жыл бұрын
Grout should have the consistency of Mayonnaise so it will flow through the grout lines with minimum pressure applied.
@carlroge6 жыл бұрын
maybe you should stick to making sandwiches. different grouts have different consistencies. this is a coarse grout designed for unfilled Travertine floors.
@dozdeshabb6 жыл бұрын
My note was intended for easing the pain for those who may follow the example of the grout in the video !, I actually make my own grout and thin set. I've done this since 1976 and in three continents. My specialty is Organic Flat roof/ Balcony tiling and i make great sandwiches too. Thank you for your video and Kind reply.
