I think that Boone felt relieved because he feels guilty and weird loving her. Sooo, I'm sure he was sad but deep down he also felt relieved of a lot of pain

The whole family problem depends on when they met and what the relationship in the house was. Due to being a fan of LM Montgomery (I named my daughter Anne Shirley so, you can say I'm a big fan), I ended up seeing this concept at an early-ish age in Sin of Innocence (1986). Their parents marry when they are teenagers and they fall in love. In Clueless, Cher realizes she is in love with her step-brother. Barry Allen and Iris West grew up together in The Flash He was 8 when his biological father was sent to prison and he ended up a ward of Iris' father. The show never clarifies if he was just a foster child or adopted but the DVD box in some countries states he was adopted and epi 15 does have the "You are asking your adoptive father for advice about being in love with his daughter who just so happens to be dating his partner..." They got married. Dexter was 3 when his mother was murdered and he became a foster child of the Morgan family. The adoption papers came in when he was ~8-10 (not a teen) - in the flashback Debra is there and is talking and looks 7-8 (not an infant). BUT, Dexter had been isolated from Debra because the parents suspected what Dexter would become. Her mother is the one who told Harry to have him evaluated. She took Debra to church and grocery shopping but not Dexter, etc. The mother died first and then the dad did. The isolation was maintained after the mother's death when Debra was 16 because Harry neglected Debra to teach Dexter the Code. Harry was sick when Dexter was 19, and died when Dexter was 20. (This math doesn't add up to the 8-year age gap the adult actors have, so I'll ignore it and go with what we are shown) The isolation both parents induced in her, along with Dexter being who he is, explained why she didn't establish a proper sibling relationship in her subconscious.

Interesting thoughts on The Island vs. the compass. I find it interesting that Shannon didn't seem to mind that she hsd Boone wrapped around her little finger.

2004: "I mean, sure they're not bloody related, but it's still weird, right?" 2011: "Jamie & Cercei? Why is it such a big deal, the Targaryens were doing it for centuries, and they got on fine." 🤢🤮

It has always varied. 1995 - Clueless - How romantic. 2014-2023 - WestAllen - best crush-marriage ever (next to Olicity) - Barry was 8 when he was fostered (adopted according to the DVD box in some countries and epi 15 does have the "You are asking your adoptive father for advice about being in love with his daughter who just so happens to be dating his partner...")

Carmen, for what it is worth Boone was 10 and Shannon was 8 when they became siblings when his mother, Sabrina Carlyle and her father, Adam Rutherford got married. In 2004 at the time of the Oceanic Flight #815 crash he was 23 and her 20 going on 21.

I genuinely thought they had met and become siblings like, 2 years before the crash. Then I looked it up and it's just like you said. I didn't know that all this time.

@rockmanrespect Nope. They were 8 and 10. They have been in each other's life for 13 yrs though.

As a adopted person i agree that blood doesnt matter if they grew up as siblings they are siblings and its super gross. We dont know when they met, but still. A lot of people that i watched dimiss this when they learn they are not blood related and i cant understand it.

Knew you wouldn't like this episode. But Carmen, keep in mind you don't have the whole picture here. You are only Season 1. You don't know the purpose of the show. Without spoiling anything, i just can say, you will get it but i think at the end of LOST. People who saw the end know why Shannon and Boone's relationship as sister & brother however weird it is has a meaning for later in the show to serve the purpose of the series.

If you've ever been massively manipulated and used by someone you have deep love/lustful feelings for, you'll get that extra layer to Boone's story and why they chose to include it.

I don't think step siblings are related. In most countries, such people do not maintain close relations at all. And they didn't grow up together either. Also, a person may be in love with someone they grew up with - for example, from the same neighborhood, or from the same school (if they've been together since first grade). There is nothing abnormal about that.

They did grow up together. It was said, about 7 and 9 years old. It is expected you don’t date.

Yes, the monster killed the pilot, it's definitely real. Also, Boone wasn't relieved that he didn't have to save Shannon anymore, he was relieved that she was dead. That is a lot more extreme. And it's the first time I started to not like Boone. I mean, I actually do like the character, but I don't like that side of him. I have a sister in real life, and she is often annoying, but I've never wished her actually dead. You might've also missed why Shannon is stealing the money, conning Boone. Bryan tells him exactly why, and it makes the situation a bit more complicated.
@youdyed9 күн бұрын
How did you completely misunderstand the whole Boone Shannon thing? He wasn't relieved that she was dead, he was relieved of not having to stick to her like glue anymore. He has an unhealthy attachment to her and this experience taught him not only that but also that he can let go and his life would improve without it. It's not about being heartless towards her, it's about being loving to himself. It's clear as daylight.

@@youdyed He's also now the only one who knows they did the no-pants dance. So there's no risk that someone else (like his MOM) would find out. That might be a relief.
