Starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara & set against the glamourous backdrop of 1950s New York, Carol is an achingly beautiful depiction of love against the odds. From the author of The Talented Mr. Ripley and acclaimed director Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven, I’m Not There, Mildred Pierce) comes a powerful drama about a married woman who risks everything when she embarks on a romance with a younger department store worker.

+Amusement73 obviously you don't get it... straight people can turn to countless movies to find representation. we don't have that, so it's exciting when we do come across well-made movies where the love story takes place between two women.
@Allxcia
@Allxcia 8 жыл бұрын
+Amusement73 Of course I have straight friends and family, although I don't see how that is relevant to anything. I think you've misunderstood my comment. While I agree that certain emotions are universal, how people experience them is not. I rarely feel intense joy and excitement watching romantic, heterosexual films (and trailers) as I don't connect or relate to the characters' love lives and attractions; their experiences with love, who they choice to love, are different to mine despite the feelings themselves being universal. I imagine that the connection and excitement straight people feel when they are exposed to characters which they're able to relate to compares to the crazy-awesome feelings I had watching this trailer.

They actually were on the phone for each other, as Cate says so in an interview: Q: When you’re filming those scenes, how easy is it to process not hearing the voice on the receiving end?A: Well, Rooney is amazingly generous (...) Cate in an interview: "On the day of the premiere in Cannes my mother had her birthday, and she was sitting next to me. I had informed her of course that there were scenes where I kissed and caressed Rooney's breasts. She answered "will see!" And when we were looking at the scene of the first kiss and all the others, I heard her whispeρing: Oh, my God, what a wonderful one! Then, I stopped trembling and my heart found her rhythm"!!! Go on, beloved Cate! With this wild heart you have!

Another brilliantly directed film by Todd Haynes; loved his other 50s period piece, Far From Heaven; Rooney's acting was the BEST especially the final scene...captivating, haunting, longing, and love w/o words; brilliant film IMO

I found this movie some time in 2016 and I rewatched it over and over for an entire week or two. It became my favourite movie, and it still is today. It's just a mesmerizing piece of work.

Oh god I can't wait to watch this movie. December is so far away. and on many reviews I read they said Cate delivered a stellar performance and the best of her career so far. I'm really looking forward to watching coz better than blue jasmine's performance I can't even imagine what that could be. this woman doesn't stop setting acting standards

Laura... He clearly means Islamic countries which are anti-sex and anti-homosexuality, it's obvious that they won't show it there. And your analogy is flawed because the us is secular unlike Islamic countries
