Hi, Everybody -
Time for another archetype video. This week, we'll dive into the bully, which has become a very popular archetype in our society. Kids are constantly getting bullied, but it's not just kids. Bullying is happening all the time, everywhere. What is that about? What is a bully?
I always bring archetypes into a discussion of power because everything's about power, everything in the world, everything you do. And a bully is someone who has no sense of personal power. Bullying is a way of diminishing the power of another human being so that you feel safer.
Don't ever allow yourself to be bullied. Never. Get out for yourself.
Okay, everybody. Thank you.
Love,
Caroline

It took me a long time to realize my mom was a bully to me when I was young. She’s 40 years older. For the longest time I assumed adults are automatically reasonable and “mature”. Took me a loooooong to accept that such an older person could feel so giddy about outsmarting a little kid. For sure a lot of shame and humiliation that she passed on to me that I am trying to shake off.

There is another story about The Bully that is worth mentioning; The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (in 2003). Brilliant story about a bully that met his match; a little boy with a stone and his sling put the bully out of action just like David and Goliath! I have a request for an archetype analysis. Could you explore the archetype The Teacher? You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Muchas gracias.

This is powerfully insightful. Particularly, the ways in which women bully. I have recently encountered an adult bully in an organization. This person is highly successful and popular. However, this person when opportunity presents will just stare. This person also utilizes what I realize now is a form of bullying. For example, attempting to weaponize exclusion. This person also must be in charge and has a group of people who are obedient.

That's how women typically fight, not physically but emotionally and social exclusion is weaponized by female bullies.

Women engage in aggression using "group force" where men use "brute force" (physicality). Women use gossip, slander, subtle forms of devaluing (exclusion) a person to get them somehow hurt seen as damaged by the group. Social damage.

What about doing a session on the sycophant? To me, it seems they are afraid of responsibility. They want to use someone else as a shield, to have a go between. They actually control the bully. And the bully can be blamed if there's a bad outcome. The sycophant ous afraid to have power him/herself and pushes it onto someone they control from behind.

In a lifetime dealing with bullies, I've never heard someone explaining it in such perfection, thank you Caroline! I've learned very early on about their nature, when I went for them when they where not in a group, they are cowards alone, they are too weak to do anything by themselves when face to face to someone they bully because they fear powerful people. They feed on attention, when you ignore them, you are in charge. The illusion is trying to scare does they fear, boring really.

It's everywhere, you are correct. My experience is such petty nastiness in bullies. I have moved on so many times and when that door closed another higher frequency door appeared. What a teaching moment, too, finding my tribe of well intentioned, kind, collaborative, loving individuals. Took several decades, but am so grateful.❤️☮️

Powerful words as always a fascinating insight into the relationship world at all levels. I was excluded by a ‘spiritual’ group who claim to be working with unconditional love after I could no longer afford to attend workshops and sessions to clear my past. It was a devastating experience after years of supporting and helping them in ways that were not reciprocated at my lowest time. Some years down the track I realise they helped me understand that I deserve better and their behaviour says more about them than it does about me. Spiritual bullies - scary stuff………

The nuns at my school were the bullies. Seriously. They'd call you out and get the whole class to laugh at you. Pre-K and kindergarten. Our desks were in a circle.. they'd walk inside and outside of the circle of desks. Rulers were used to smack our hands and lower backs. Luckily by 1st grade I was pulled out of that school but after school parochial school still happened for years and you learned to not ask questions. I left the church spiritually by 4th grade.

Hi Caroline i did get out of a marriage where drip by drip i was changed. It took me nearly as long as my marriage to regain who i was again a free spirit. I was put on an assertive training course as i was told i was too assertive, apparently, there is a fine line between being assertive and aggressive yet my pyschological profile test came out loving and kind, peaceful. Since then i had the courage to stand up for a pregnant mother over a consultant and i got suspended and lost my job as noone stands up to consultants they are the NHS. My finances, my home i got a mortgage for, my health were all affected. At my appeal the outside Chairman was removed from the meeting because he thought i was innocent. I have changed but attracted two further incidents becaise i wont stand down to a bully , i stand up to them. However, you made me realise my passion to look our food industry, soil, air, watee etc and pass on this information can come across as bullying. I was accused of bullying by a 17 year old with ADHD and PTS and after a few months he informed me the girl he was dating , her mother, always talked negatively about me although i met her once at work. This girl, also 17, went on to stesl from my till at the same time as the bullying complaimt against me. Somehow i was accused and pushed into a corner. Now i know the truth it took awhile to forgive and let go and do the same agsim. However, because i have changed i am told i am feisty, sure i am i wont let this cowardly, lies bring me down. It changed me but the Course of Miracles saved me. Forgivenes. This unity towatds all men and women and uniting to support eacjother as people, countries etc is what i really feel is the heaven on earth. I see the macrocosm of the lies in Gogernment and fear factor dominating, preventing the majority of humanity to be who they really are supportive and loving towards nature and eachother. My feist, peaceful and loving character are both me which i accept. My feistiness is don't mess with me or this is my passion preventing dangerous chemicals killing our insects and then my loving side os for the future this is is where i hope for a better future. I am not an activist that throws pink or orange paint around but i would strap myself to any ancient tree being cut down and meanwhile anyone imterested in nature or asks me i explain this may work better to stop ants, look up this butterfly and plant it feeds on and keep going with your enthusiasm for life. Take care for our way of life but i'm no Mandela or Ghandi i am just Pam.

My mother went to Catholic school where the nuns bullied her and hit her hands with a ruler because she was left-handed. When my Irish-Catholic husband was a child, he repeatedly snuck out of Catholic school because the nuns were so horrible. Finally, his family gave in and allowed him to attend secular school. I'd like to see some of these themes addressed rather than such obvious stories.

She's very extreme when describing the archetypes. She's quite fierce and making out the bully as a bad person. They're not. They're hurt. I try my best best to be a good loving kind supportive mum , but at the end of the day when it's all on me as I'm single , aching , and still have dishes etc to do. I have found myself being a bully about things that aren't done around the house, or having to ask more than 3 X for something to get done. I get exhausted and overwhelmed and can't take the load anymore. I am aware tho and always say sorry and explain its cause I'm not feeling well

I would be incredibly fascinated to hear a video of a combination of The Bully Archetype + The Angel (or The Martyr, The Victim, etc) I’ve had that bizarre combination one time too many in my life and I’m desperate for the kind of nuanced insight that could be gleaned from hearing an expert break down the alchemy between those two seemingly dichotomous energies. To put a more modern western label on it - something like the self-righteous or communal narcissist….

If underlying the bully’s behavior is shame and fear of humiliation, then how does the shaming and humiliation of the boy in front of the class by the nun help him? Feels to me that she was bullying him and adding to his low self-esteem. Humiliation is a very easy way to control children though.

I couldn’t listen past the start because the innocent child being framed as a “bully” in contrast to the nun and nuclear family and principle using shaming and humiliation and coercion to force him to comply with their abusive education system and saying the kid is the bully :( been listening to these videos and finding them interesting but this one’s flicked a switch for me about the perspective of truth being promoted. The narcissist archetype also started to unravel things because it’s so at odds with what healing narcissism needs to be dehumanising the narc and labelling them as senselessly malicious and incapable of growth.

I don’t think I am properly understanding the concept of “specialness”. It seems to me that everyone inherently feels they are special because they really are. I don’t think anybody actually has to live an ordinary life. That doesn’t mean you have to be famous or rich, because you can live a special and unique life within your own family and community. To me, an ordinary life would be one in which you are programmed and never manifest what is really special and unique about yourself. All this to say I don’t really what this concept means.

Dominators usually are not backed by much it's fascia if you test it with your logic. Crappy domination parents are the cause. It's like pack animal mentality that respects age or size but not wits or bring correct or serving the group etc. It's a selfish defense but if you believe you're endangered by groups for whatever reason and visualize your massacre it can have a certain sick validity. Not excusable but the madness has a method. Sometimes if you are in a psychopathic group you may actually need to step into that type of position and philosophically kick asses so you don't get erased. That happens. If you're displaced in another culture and are outnumbered you can appreciate it. My history teacher in h s. Told us a story about growing up on a reservation and there was this new kid who was getting bullied. His father told him to pick the biggest scariest kid and kick his ass so he did it and nobody ever bothered him again. Problem solved. It's got to be animalistic cave man residue. Individualistic dominator ideation doesn't accept the collective exists. It's a demonic conceptualization. We used to kill psychopathic individuals who were really excellent at killing animals and got power that way because it's detrimental. Then instead of that we somehow switched to benefitting and tolerance so everyone ends up exploiting the psychos actually to keep it up. They are encouraged to do that and have tiny little specializations but lack brains in other areas. To survive they are on that. Not supporting it but that's how it operates mechanically. We do need certain psychos because they don't get sick physically from certain ideas so they really do have a special power that's necessary in certain conditions for the group. Think about it. They just don't have access to higher mental spaces by doing that.

They're bullies, addicts, victims too (in their heads), curmudgeon, prostitute, outlaw, etc. Basically the breakdown of their personality structure, if it is indeed a 'personality'. Or more like 'symptoms' of their 'disorder' (mental, psychological or spiritual or all). Caroline, have u met a true malignant narcissist? or real psychopath? They induce in us this gut sickness, like u feel this inexplicable stomach churning nausea upon their presence.
