Il paese di Carona (Bergamo) si trova in Alta Valle Brembana a un’altitudine di 1110 metri. Importante la presenza del fiume Brembo, con la costruzione della centrale idroelettrica. Il paese si specchia in un lago artificiale, creatosi dopo la costruzione della diga, costeggiato da spiaggette sassose e da una bella passeggiata ad anello allietata da prati fioriti e boschetti, per superare il fiume c’è un bel ponticello e poi per raggiungere l’altra sponda del lago si passa proprio sopra la diga. Da qui è possibile percorrere molteplici sentieri: imboccando il sentiero che conduce al Rifugio Calvi in poco tempo si raggiunge l’antica e caratteristica contrada di Pagliari (1313 m). Questo piccolo borgo, con le sue case in pietra locale e i tetti in ardesia, ha conservato al meglio la sua architettura rustica, passeggiando per i suoi viottoli erbosi si ritrova un’atmosfera fuori dal tempo. Qui siamo nell’ultima valle dell’alto corso del fiume Brembo, sotto gli imponenti contrafforti che conducono dalle valli orobiche alla Valtellina; questi sentieri erano percorsi dai contrabbandieri che volevano evitare la dogana veneta, e Pagliari è stata per secoli la “sentinella” dei viandanti prima di affrontare l’ultima salita verso nord. Continuando a salire tra pascoli e boschi, con bellissimi panorami sia verso Carona e il suo lago che verso le cime spesso innevate, si giunge alla cascata della Val Sambuzza, che scende sulla scura roccia spruzzandoci allegramente!
The town of Carona (Bergamo) is located in the Upper Brembana Valley at an altitude of 1110 meters. The presence of the Brembo river is important, with the construction of the hydroelectric plant. The town is reflected in an artificial lake, created after the construction of the dam, flanked by stony beaches and a beautiful ring walk enlivened by flowery meadows and groves, to cross the river there is a nice bridge and then to reach the on the other side of the lake you pass right above the dam. From here it is possible to follow many paths: taking the path that leads to the Calvi Refuge in a short time you will reach the ancient and characteristic district of Pagliari (1313 m). This small village, with its local stone houses and slate roofs, has preserved its rustic architecture in the best possible way. Walking through its grassy lanes you will find an atmosphere out of time. Here we are in the last valley of the upper course of the Brembo river, under the imposing buttresses that lead from the Orobic valleys to the Valtellina; these paths were traveled by smugglers who wanted to avoid Venetian customs, and Pagliari was for centuries the "sentinel" of travelers before tackling the last climb to the north. Continuing to climb between pastures and woods, with beautiful views both towards Carona and its lake and towards the often snow-capped peaks, we reach the Val Sambuzza waterfall, which descends on the dark rock splashing us happily!
