In this carp rig tying video I show my version of the Ronnie Rig which is one of the best low pop up rigs of the last few years. There's underwater footage and presentation advice. If you've got riggy fish in your waters and feel they are getting away with it then this could be the rig that lands your biggest carp yet! I felt the ronnie rig was loosing me fish so I improved it using a trick I saw on a Steve Renyard video a few years ago and so far I haven't lost a fish on it. Give it a go in your angling and I'm sure you'll catch more carp!

To all the people saying this rig has been done by so and so and nothing new here, give the guy credit for sharing his rings with the public he doesn't have to but he does no point slating him too many noobs thinking they know everything because they have seen a DVD people like to share their tips others don't if you don't like the ring don't bother commenting anything negative that's my opinion.

Good video. One question.What function does the elastic have in the assembly?Thanks you very much and greetings from Spain.👍
@SimonDewCarpFishing
@SimonDewCarpFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Juan Cobos the elastic takes away the direct contact with the lead. In other words the carp can’t shake its head and use the lead to shed the hook. Also the more they move the more the hook in pulled in my the elastic. It’s very tricky for a fish to shed the hook once it’s picked up the bait👍
@Letshavealittledance

Can I just ask, if you use a micro ring swivel and bait floss instead of the bait screw, will this not give more movement on the pop up? Would that make any difference to the effectiveness of the rig? Genuine question as I prefer bait screws but wondered if a swivel might add another dimension?

CEO Fishing if you look around 11mins you can see how far it stretches 👌

@@SimonDewCarpFishing No. What I'm saying is how do you know that the carp has a harder time dealing with the rig? I was hoping to see underwater footage of hookups. I'm not saying your rig is good or bad, it may be great, but it's too often said in carp fishing that baits and rigs have "so and so" effect yet people have no actual proof.

CEO Fishing unfortunately I don’t have the money for the equipment needed to film like that underwater. The GoPro I use will only last a couple of hours on a battery charge.

julian evans that’s another good one a bit different to this though. The elastic goes through the lead insert. Both rigs would work with a Ronnie I guess 👍

It's the same principle as Steve reynards original hermit rig from the early 90s . Then nashy bought out trigger link which is the same principle as the hermit . Now you've made your on version of trigger like . Which I'm sure works just as well.

Over complicated way of tying a Ronnie , splicing ? , I buy Ronnie hooks readymade, tie my favourite hooklink to it with a grinner a balance bead on the knot , figure of eight overhand loop knot the other end , tying that rig is too fiddly and time consuming

It's horses for courses really mate. This rig is designed for super tricky fish that have learnt to deal with standard rigs. I wouldn't use it on a runs water where you get through loads of rigs but for big fish waters and a few bites a season I think it's worth the effort 👌

If you wanna know about rig mechanics look up Steve Renyard ..., he’s the inventor of a lot of popular and effective rigs. The same goes for frank Warwick .., inventor of the chod etc .... this video is a bad version of Steve’s rig.look how the rig landed next to the lead ..... didn’t push away or anything. Bad presentation, Just promoting the tackle company he’s a team member of. ... #watchingpaintdry #cheapcopy

Utterly pointless. Novelty value only , always has been , always will be. Ok, the spring effect would work if your lead was about a pound, but are you gonna use a lead like that. Give me strength!! Look if you seriously beleive this is gonna change things for you, you,r beyond help.

Ha, its all the rain mate, gives me the right hump. Um, this particular rig idea always riles me. Must av been 35yrs ago first saw it , using powergum, it annoyed me then because , in my humble opinion, there are much better ways of dealing with riggy carp. Cant av a rig mechanics, bait, situation , discussion here tho. Just feel that a lot of the guys looking on here came into this game wiv ronnies, hinges, etc to start with, and no real thoughts on how a rig, any rig, actually works. Still bloody raining!

mark smith fair play mate rain sucks! Although carp love it. I actually think that this type of rig gives the carp a real problem if the hook has pricked them as they can’t use the lead to shed tho hook and the more they try the further the hook is buried. It certainly catches carp but then so do basic hair rigs. I guess it’s whatever gives you confidence.
