I had carpal tunnel release on my dominant hand 7 months ago. I never had any pain. It was simply awkward relying on my non-dominant hand. My normal exercise activity, prior to this was to do the following 5 days a week (25 minutes walking on treadmill, 25 minutes on the elliptical and swimming 500 meters). I was able to resume treadmill and elliptical on week 3 and swimming on week 4 (covering suture spot with a waterproof bandage), without any discomfort. Recently I had carpal tunnel release on my non-dominant hand. Again, I never had any pain and after 48 hours, found it easy to handle normal self-care functions. These were much easier, because I had full use of my dominant hand. Beginning week 2, I was able to resume treadmill and elliptical routine each day, avoiding any stress on the non-dominant hand. At end of week 2 the bandages and sutures were removed, simply covering with a fabric band-aid (except with bathing). Mobility of fingers and hand is virtually normal, as long as there's nothing stressful. I feel like I could easily resume swimming (with suture spot covered in waterproof band-aid), but will wait until week 4, at the encouragement of doctor. It is definitely easier, having carpal tunnel on a non-dominant hand.

My right thumb had lost the sense of touch, making it hard to button things, as I could not feel the button. My surgery was painless and, after 10 days of healing, touch came back to my thumb. It was my dominant hand, so I did find it awkward depending on my left had during the 10 days of healing, before bandages was removed. That is the only challenge. Hint, Walmart sells disposable food handling gloves, 120 for under $2. They were great for covering my hand for showering, closing the glove with a rubber band. I could also use when cooking in kitchen. @@natalielefebvre1628

I found that a large ice bag worked best as liquid water can conform exactly to the shape of the hand and wrist and even reach two opposite sides of the hand and wrist.

I was told it could take up to a year for the fingers to feel normal again. Different variables like how long you've had this numbness or pain, was the procedure endoscopic or traditional, and nerves heal very slowly, a millimeter a day I'm told, can play a role in how long it takes. Any procedure or surgery has always taken me up to a year to feel normal again. Keep doing your exercises and keep your doctor informed. With a little luck your nerve may heal faster...good luck!

Good looking woman. Pleasant to listen to, and to watch. Helpful content. Bloody awful noise which may be intended to pass as music. It is offensive and unpleasant and adds nothing to what without it, would be a valuable video.
