OT Miri! I have never once posted a comment on KZfaq, but I just needed to post a comment and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your videos! I passed my exam last week on the first try, and I wanted to let you know what a huge part you played in my success. Each one of your videos are incredibly helpful, organized, thoughtful, humorous, and clever. You made difficult information approachable and even fun and I am so thankful that you share your talents with the world because they have made such a huge impact on my NBCOT success as well as many others! Not only did your materials prepare me for much of the content on the exam, but you also helped me "think like an OT" on the exam which increased my confidence while I was taking it. I also want to thank you for your calmness and encouragement that you exude in your videos! Often times when I was stressed out studying other materials, I would come back to your videos which always lowered my stress. Whenever people ask me study tips for the NBCOT exam, you are ALWAYS a resource that I strongly encourage people to check out! Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and for putting yourself out there online! You make a huge difference in people's lives every single day, and I am so glad that I was privileged enough to have you be a virtual part of my OT journey. So thank you, thank you, thank you, OT Miri! You are wonderful!

What a sweet, heartfelt and encouraging message. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generous feedback. Preparing for the NBCOT journey was one of the most discouraging, isolating and lonely journeys I've ever undertaken in my life. It was also very expensive and I spent a lot more money than I was able to afford at the time. Every resource had a price tag on it and I wasn't able to find solace anywhere. So I promised myself that I would do my best to share everything I learned along the way if I passed the exam, free of charge. Today, the greatest gift anyone can give me is the testimony of their success as they share this meaningful OT journey with me. Every time I get a message of someone in our community passing the board exam, I get the greatest high and this enthusiasm and pure excitement never gets old. So thank you for coming back here and taking a moment to share your appreciation and love. It means everything to me.

Hello Ot Miri, I passed my NBCOT exam on my first attempt with a 507 despite physical health issues that resulted in me being sick for 2.5 weeks before my scheduled test date and eventually in the hospital on Christmas Eve. I refused to push my test back because I was not going to prolong this awful process even if it meant I failed my first attempt. I took the exam January 9th and I truly believe you are the reason I passed. Thank you so much for not only your knowledge, but also, courage.

Miri, i want to thank you..whether you know it or not you have been with me for 4 months, while cooking, driving, at work etc.. I heard your voice everywhere lol even my husband knows you! I have thanked you multiple times on many other videos but today i come bearing good news. I found out i passed my OTR boards today on my first attempt. I prayed, i cried, i studied and repeated that for 4 months..i realized in the process how powerful my tongue was so in the last weeks leading up i started to speak life, victory, and goodness into my life. I left the prometrix center in tears (ugly snotty cry) and looked like road kill trying to pick up its guts before another suv comes by.. I had to wait 2 weeks and spent thanksgiving as a beautiful corpse, pretty on the outside but inside not so much going on (my husband had to check for a pulse at times lol). My positivity was shot and in the final hour i realized that either way things went it would be a absolute blessing (I started focusing on how far i had come, as a tech, then a cota, finishing grad school and now having the opportunity to even sit for my otr boards. I woke up at 4am this morning and prayed for hours but most of all i watched my favorite movie the secret..by 8am..i was logged in..by 802am i was in full blown tears in disbelief, i passed! Thank you so much, im crying as i write this!!😢😭..im just so happy. I also wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy. Would you consider getting a p.o box for your subscribers, a virtual baby shower would be so neat. I am already thinking about what you may need..would love to support you on this journey. You look beautiful gurrrl, enjoy your blessing! Xoxo Nikki

awww Nikki... this message made me tear up. Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. I remember all your comments and our interaction in the last 3 months. We talked about the power of the spoken word and I’m so happy to know that you were speaking life and victory into your life leading up to the exam. I hope this act of positive affirmations becomes a part of your daily routine and I will also try my best to practice this in my own life with you. But more importantly, CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU PASSED NIKKI! From being a tech, to COTA to OTR, you’ve certainly reached many milestones and have been equipped with experiences at all different levels to bring great perspectives and life experiences. Your clients and families you serve will be so blessed to have you care for them. You have such a big heart and one that desires to advocate. I sensed that from the first comment you made when you suggested that I charge a small fee for my videos :) With your big heart of compassion, empathy and passion, you are going to move the mountains and I’d love to meet you one day at an AOTA conference or some other OT related event. As for an online virtual baby shower, that sounds amazing. I never thought about it and honestly, the greatest gifts you all can give me is the attainment of your success and happiness as you walk this journey with me. But if you’d like to send a card or a small gesture, my mailing address is: 65 Pine Avenue Suite 874 Long Beach, CA 90802. Thank you so much for that thoughtful gesture!

The way you explained the content fit so well with my unique learning style and was the perfect way to make the studying a bit more fun! Thank you for being a ray of light and encouragement throughout the journey to the NBCOT and for being such an incredible resource for this OT community. Hi Miri! I hope you're doing better, and sleeping better! I feel your pain of not being able to sleep soundly to a certain degree.. except I think mine came from mental stress. Anyways, like I've learned from all my studies, there's ways to manage any ailments we have, and I am making sure to do all I can to take care of myself. :) I just wanted to say I've been watching all your videos, and just wanted take a moment to express that I appreciate your dedication to helping out OT/OTA students. I love that you put so many visuals and pictures in your videos; they really help me remember and understand the content. Today is my last day before exam day, and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. All the best :)

Hiiiii Joy!! Oh, I do wish I could have seen your message sooner because this wonderful, kind message and exciting news would have certainly allowed me to sleep better at night- carpal tunnel or not! Thank you so much my friend for coming back here to not only express your appreciation, but to offer your sweet words of support and feedback. I started this KZfaq channel with no desire or expectation other than to help other students and new grads navigate the challenging transition post graduation and promised myself that if I passed the board exam, I would do everything I can to share everything I learned so others wouldn't have to go through a dark period like I did. So imagine my joy when I receive messages like this!! My heart is full! Congratulations, Joy! I hope this next new chapter brings you even greater successes, joy and fulfillment!

Hi Elisa! It's great that you're seeking support and resources in preparation for the NBCOT exam and clinical work. If you haven't already, please check out my NBCOT Essential Guide on my website. It contains all the materials, resources and strategies I used to pass the exam along with success stories and experiences of other recent candidates who successfully passed the exam: www.otmiri.com/nbcot-exam-essentials/ As for books and additional resources, check out this list I put together in my blog article. Although it was written for the acute care setting, I list some of my favorite reference books that come highly recommended by many fellow OT friends and colleagues across all different settings: www.otmiri.com/occupational-therapy-acute-care-is-acute-care-right-for-you/#1517860195776-e9ba8791-427a
