I'm 53 years old and I can't help but think of my late sister that passed just a few years ago. I just weep when I hear these Carpenters' songs. My sister and I were 3 years apart and we would go hunt down unbroken soda bottles to cash in at the grocery store so that we could buy 45's of our favorite new songs. Then we would take those records home and play them on our old beat-up turntable. But it played them and we just about wore it out. We had a huge record aollection that we had paid for all on our own. We would dance and sing.......I gotta stop here. I miss my sister so bad that it is a physical ache in my heart. I would give everything I have to have her back. She suffered terribly from Crohn's Disease for 22 years before complications of that disease took her life. So the Carpenter's music has a special place in my heart because of my sister. We loved that music and my sister would talk about how she would marry a man someday that loved her like how the lyrics in their songs described. My sister did get married, but she was only able to be married seven years before the disease started taking so much from her. Her husband suddenly died and that was terribly difficult for all of us. Cherish what you have. Cherish those in your life. Listen to lyrics of songs and know that there is meaning in most all of them, especially songs that really get right down in your heart and soul. Find love and love deeply. And just remember that true love is when you love someone more than you love yourself. You'd give it ALL for them.

What's amazing about this song is that it started as the music for a bank commercial. Karen was one of the best female percussionists EVER. You should really check out "I'll say goodbye to Love" by the Carpenters. The go a little more into rock on that one.

I'm 65 and have Loved Karen since the 1st time I heard her. Something I always wished was to have a campfire in my backyard, a guitar, and Karen singing. A couple beers, music, what can I say!

It's amazing that this started as a Commercial for Crocker Bank. Written by Paul Williams and he originally sang it for the first commercial, before it was given to Karen to sing. Best decision they could ever make.

My girl would play Carpenters songs to me in her room in university in 1973. Can't listen without being taken back 50 years. Love it.

This was one of our Wedding Songs in 1979 and I was 19 and my spouse was 22. We were married till last year, until my husband took sick and passed away. I miss you sweetheart, RIP❤❤❤ Till we meet again!!❤❤ As for your comment regarding their voices, its because people actually had to have a real singing voice back then...There was no auto-tune to use!!! 😊

Karen Carpenter's voice was a monument to humanity. Just to know that our pathetic species could produce a sound so pure and beautiful, makes me think that Humankind might actually be worthy of existence. Goodness knows, nothing else does.

The bass line is magic. I'm a drummer/guitarist but you can't help but notice how good the bass player is. Whenever you get a job with a tasty , capable bass player,it makes the gig so fun. You're right ,this song is noteworthy. My fave. Carpenters song.
