The denial of such a promise by Malaya, a former interior undersecretary, is the first to be made by a government official of the commitment. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has not officially denied that such a promise was made to the Chinese.

“…status quo…” means it would date back since PPNoynoy Aquino was the President, meaning there were repairs and maintenance of the RP Sierra Madre being done. Therefore, if there was indeed secret deal between Du30 and Xi for a status quo agreement, the status quo should follow the Aquino’s previous Acts. Du30 🤛🤛violated or disregarded the status quo then existed ‼️PDu30’s secret deal with 🇨🇳Xi is suspect! You know what I am driving at either……🤛🤝🤲‼️

During Duterte ‚s time China destroyed Philippine reefs, China illegally fishing in Philippines EEZ, China built military base in one of the reefs which is Philippine ‚s territory or EEZ and the aggression against Philippine coastguard and Filipino fishermen being bullied by China in Philippine territory/ EEZ and illegal presence of China, etc. Nothing of these was publicly announced during Duterte’s time. Duterte shows his weakness and incompetence.

The agreement with regards to Ayungin shoal is a "stalemate" strategy by PRC government having an upper hand because the "status quo" situation buys time for PRC military to build up its forces and extensively plan in order to gain more territory not only with the Ayungin shoal but in the rest of the West Philippine sea. President Duterte was basically allowing the PRC Navy to have unrestricted access in the West Philippine sea and allowing PRC Navy to amass its military forces!
