When I first started working with Gracie on this trick, she wouldn't catch the carrot. It is just practice and always make it fun. Get real excited when she does catch it. I think placement of the carrot helps too. Does Livvy know "catch" command? I hope this helps. You have done some amazing work with Livvy!

I started training Gracie at 10 weeks old. Spend no more than 5-10 minutes at a time a few times a day. Always make it fun & I use treats. Not sure what you mean by time frame....did you mean how long does it take to teach a trick? That depends on your dog. I would start with the easier tricks at first, such as "sit" & "paw".

i'm getting a dachshund in four days, and i was wondering, what is the time frame for teaching them tricks? you seem to know a lot about them and i was hoping to teach him some party tricks.

How did you train that? I've tried this so often, and Livvy keeps the treat on her nose perfectly, but when I say "Go" she just lets it drop to the ground and eats it from there. Do you have a tipp for me how to make her catch it?

I would give him a couple weeks to adjust to you & his new home before starting to train him. Take your cue from him, you will know when he is ready to begin. Good luck with your new puppy! :)
