Meerschaum is not a make of pipe but it is a soft white clay like material consisting of hydrated magnesium silicate, found chiefly in Turkey. Formed from the shells and bones of prehistoric sea creatures.

7:11 yes, Meerschaum pipes are very high quality, but they are also quite fragile, being carved from a special type of soft, white stone. The pipe you picked up was 100% briarwood though lol. There were a few next to it that were 1/2 briarwood and 1/2 meerschaum it seemed. You can also buy all meerschaum and they can cost up to $1,000 depending how large they are and how finely they’re carved.

Meerschaum is a type of pipe material, not a brand per se. It is hydrated magnesium silicate found mostly in turkey. You have crappy meer pipes and great ones. They tend to be less expensive or comparable to briar pipes. Over time the porous material patinas nicely. However, if you drop it, its done.

@@peterjoseph8974 indeed. I never said it was a brand of pipe, but rather a type of soft white stone which is used to carve pipes out of. As a pipe smoker of 20 years I can tell you they are almost always more expensive on average than a briarwood pipe, which can be as cheap as $25 all the way up the several hundreds. I’ve never seen a decent Meerschaum pipe for less than $75-$100 though and they can easily go for $500+ depending on the size and designs carved into it.

@@jonaskessler326 Thats fair, I was deep in the brandy when I wrote that one. I have wholesale access to block meer pipes from a few manufacturers. 100$ retail plain meer might cost 20-30$. Carving brings pieces well into the hundreds. I have a few monsters with crazy scenes sculpted into them. 250 cost 1000 retail

Those pipes are called briar wood, meerschaum is a white magnesium clay mineral also know as sepiolite; used to hand carve beautiful pipes. They can cost hundred to thousands depending on the design of the artists as they are hand carved. My father had quite the collection of them and Briar wood.

Briar root makes the best pipes. Meerschaum is a fossil material that is usually white in color. There are some beautiful hand carved meerschaum pipes but briar is the preferred material for smoking.

Meerschaum pipes are made from a mineral called Sea-Foam and it is mined in Turkey. They are easily carved and great smokers, but there are other pipes that are much more expensive depending on the wood used and the manufacture

There is a 750th anniversary Frapin that retails for £30K however what you are showing here if I’m not mistaken Is an 1888 crystal decanter ofFrapin which sells and is readily available for £5000 in the UK. I have 2 examples.

What a coincidence Cars and Art Lux boutique used to be a Chabad Shul back in 2000. located in Eaux-Vives Geneva, Switzerland I lived just around the corner. Where you were looking at lux stuff we prayed there three times a day. We celebrated Shakrite at 7 AM . .Our prayers must have attracted all that wealth . I'm now living in St.Moritz in the Engadine Valley . Visit us at the end of January for the Snow Polo..

They really did nail it with the Aventador indeed..specifically the 700-4 (pre Aventador S/Aventador SV body style).That matte Nero Nemesis Roadster is a top spec. If it wasn't for the gearbox, I could see Michael owning one.

Michael and Adam probably don't watch F1, because Alpine was the number 4 team last year behind Red Bull , Ferrari and Mercedes. The brand has an interesting history and is now part of the Renault group. The A110 is a really cool car and still looks a lot like the original model from the 60's.

Thanks Michael and Adam, what an interesting shopping experience, from watches, to wine, cars, art etc….so much under one roof. All out of my price range, but that’s ok I still love looking and seeing how the other half live lol. Amazing how they could have those watches just sitting out, not only in America they wouldn’t do it, but same in Australia…someone would steal it so fast. They wouldn’t even have to try to break out of the glass display case. I somehow don’t think they would get far with it if they did try somehow….. would love to be a fly on the wall if someone did though, out of curiosity 😂 Love from Australia ❤❤❤

Pipes depend on the person. It is a look as well as a smoke. I like long draws, so I tend to Church-warden pipes made of wood and with at least an 8" draw (12 is preferable). Wood is a natural fiber that absorbs the heat more than other materials cooling the smoke and making it less harsh on the taste buds, allowing more flavor to come through. My Meerschaum is an elaborately carved mini-pipe and molded hard case that fits in my pocket making it easier to carry at Ren Fairs etc. I prefer a pipe because the best tobacco is made for them. Cigarettes and cigars use cheaper tobacco, as using better tobacco would make them prohibitively expensive for most people. I prefer to smoke Cherry and Vanilla Cavendish, in a small bowl pipe. A little at a time is best as it doesn't overwhelm the tastebuds and leaves you wanting a bit more. And I never inhale the smoke, it is for tasting not breathing.
