Limited to only 650 units, the T60 Trailrider has Australia-specific ride and handling tune by Walkinshaw. So, does that make this Chinese ute any good?

I am retired, I bought a T60 Pro to tow our Avan and travel to some more remote parts of Australia. It was between the T60 and an older second hand dual cab, with the T60 we get 5 years roadside assist, 5 years 130,00 k warranty so doing less than 20,000 k a year it's great peace of mind as well as the knowing we are not buying someone else's problems in a second hand car. I am very happy so far.

Want to know what I think of the T60? LOVE IT! Yep, I own one here in New Zealand and I think it is brilliant. I paid $36,000 (+ GST and ORC) for a standard model (6 speed manual) with the addition of full bull bars, 5% rear and 25% front tints, sports bar, and lift up hard top. Also threw a set of 19" mags and Giti SUV800 tyres at it (superior ride and handling over the standard equipment). Overall it suits me fine as a daily drive, home renovation products hauler, and long trips away. Ok it's a wee bit down on power compared to main stream, but on the road it's not that noticeable now it's done near on 5000km.

From a tradie point of view. it 's excellent value for money. I could have a Hilux in 2018. But I chose the T60 pro model(it was the best decision I have ever made). Now I can afford another T60 for my sidekick to help out when things got a bit crazy. Suddenly my stress level went down tremendously and the business is up. It 's been 2 years now, full load with a trailer every day. I have had no problem with it. I don't know what he's (Cars Guide) on about.

I have a T60 pro and have now had for 8 months now and now done just under 15.000km and I tow a trailer every day for my business, it’s great on cost and drives really well on and off the road and I’ve had no problems at all with Ute. It’s worth every cent. The ride is great and it’s not noisy at all so I have no idea what he says in the video at all and it’s stop really well when I have a full trailer load and drives up hill as well as a full load with no trouble all. If your looking for a good price and a Ute that works, great for small business or just a daily drive. It’s worth it!!!

Got Black bullbar, 10inch spotties, uhf aerial, uhf system, tinted windows, weather shields, 2inch lift with hard suspension upgrade , winch, 19inch black/all terrains, roof racks, clip on tonneau cover, mud mats, rubber tub liner, and Blackvue Wifi dashcam. $47k. Does everything i need it to on the farm, towing and camping ...and looks good doing it. Always get people taking photos and trying to figure out what it is (I debadged it for shits n giggles). Also dont worry about infotainment system, latest update fixed all the little gremlins 👍

I've got a T60 Pro specced out pretty well with 265 maxxis bighorn tyres, snorkel and steel rims. It has far more capability off road than I ever thought possible but it's a nice average car on the road. The biggest selling points for me was the 5 star ancap, curtain airbags and the driveway price. Lots of sceptics out there but I'm a super happy owner.
@TX-dy4ef
@TX-dy4ef 5 жыл бұрын
@toño mc is there only 2 airbags in the whole car? You might find that it also has curtain airbags on the pillars, these are really important in a side on collision and also why I bought a T60. I really love this truck, it is by far the most value for money out of all of the dual cab ranges.

To put the T60 power outputs in perspective. The LDV T60’s 110kw and 360nm is in the ballpark of the previous gen Toyota Hilux 3L which has 126kw and 343nm. So if you are coming from a previous gen Hilux and are happy with its performance the LDV should be fine - if the torque curves are similar that is.

The T60 is like a Colorado for good reason - SAIC (LDV's parent) was in partnership with GM in China during it's development. The front suspension of the T60 is rumoured to be largely part for part identical with the GM product, and the 2.8 litre diesel is from the same VM Motori family, just a revision older. Gotta say LDV is miles in front of GM (and Isuzu) when it comes to the interior.

I drive a Tacoma (Toyota) which is for me more Classy than a Hilux, looks tougher and have more space inside, at least in America Hilux is pretty average. This LDV ( I own one) deserves more respect, you get a lot for the dollar, if you research a bit u will find that the motor is under stressed by default, so it may have a huge potential for tuning 💪 I have 30k in my odometer and this vehicle is getting better and better. I use this T60 luxe as a family car and everyone loves it 🙏💪, I drive in power mode, works fine. I may add the I drive throttle control and later on a diesel chip tune. Some people will talk as if the so-called mainstream brands pay them as ambassadors. The reality is that no one owes those EXPENSIVE brands a damn thing! This LDV ute looks SUPER NICE for me for the PRICE........MY POCKET.........MY PRIORITY!!!! I can't be worried about a loud engine as if I listen to it while driving. The reality is that most of the time our radios are on as we drive, no one keeps listening to the engine. Towing capacity??? How many people really tow 3000kg? VERY VERY FEW!!!!! In such a nice-looking ute, how many people really buy it to load more than 750kg of lime??? Again VERY VERY FEW!!!! For me this ute seems a great buy and would buy it without hesitation. The sooner we let the EXPENSIVE Toyotas park and gather dust at their dealerships, the more likely we are to win with having them dropping their prices a bit. That to me is better than keep acting as ambassadors of companies that unjustifiably keep reaping us off!

Nice review, finally got your hands on a T60 😂 I'm probably going to buy one for my business to take advantage of the $30000 instant asset write off. Trail rider is a bit wank tbh better value in a Luxe model which you can get (manual, 2018 plate, abn holder) driveway for 30000 even atm then add $2000 for a 2" Bilstein lift kit and $1000 on a remap which gets you up to around or better than class average power and you end up with a fair better value vehicle.

You don't once you factor in resale value. Sure you may well gain a $10k saving on one year of tax, but you are also highly likely to have purchased a vehicle that incurs far more depreciation per annum. That tax advantage disappears quickly after a few years.

@@rayg9069 well money in the bank earns little to no return currently. For the same price you could pick up a Hilux, dmax, ranger or any other of your choice of the crappy dual cab marketplace at under 100k kms. Some even offer proven reliability, a wide dealer network (esp Toyota) and the same tax advantages. Resale on a $30k Hilux after 4 years and approx. 15k kms usage (total 160,000kms approx) looks like $22k+ depending on SR/SR5 and extras. Each to their own but there is a reason these are cheap.
@rayg9069
@rayg9069 4 жыл бұрын
@@alastairc.5219 Yes there is a reason, you are not paying for your trade in price up front. As for Toyota reliability, yes they were. You may want to look into the long list of current issues costing their 'guests' tens of thousands in repairs. Hilux, air box issues dusting the motors, DPF system failures costing thousands, manual transmission faults. These faults are not isolated, I've seen pallets of failed gearboxes in the back of the service area at my local dealer. But each to their own, stay with the same ol same ol, or try something new and potentially much better. Lucky our explorer forefathers were adventurous or we'd still be sitting in Africa scratching nuts.

@@rayg9069 no worries mate. Enjoy your Chinese purchase, I'm happy for you to buy one and I'll be the dinosaur. In reality the dual cab market is flooded with over priced, under performing, well marketed vehicles. The original post was about the tax advantage and I'm not interested in having a debate about Toyota issues (however well documented we know they are). If you want a cheap Ute, go for it. Just know that in 4 years it will have depreciated heavily and your "saving" on day one will have been chewed while you drive an unproven, untested, underperforming vehicle all in the name of saving money.

Definitely not if you need to get the best value then the Triton defecates all over the corona dual cab, you said that's all we need to know well what about CVM if you tow 3000kg how much can you then carry in the vehicle? the biggest issue is dealer support what happens when you need parts there is pretty much nill support so a stuffed trans could mean a couple of months hiring another vehicle, ouch.

All this monitors in the car are just good for the driver disruption while driving mainly on a busy roads. Your LDV is gonna be in wreckers and my now 7 years old Wolf be still driving. That's exactly where you get what you paying for. And one more thing, after I learned how to drive diesel motor I get fuel economy on the bad day less then 8L/100km and on a good one less then 6.5L/100km. I don't know what you mean about 2 other companies with bad ethics. But what I meant was what I wrote. And when you finger point to other companies I'm sure if I research any huge company I would find something I don't like about them. I don't belive media before I see things on my own. Just because they have some sensation to print or say it doesn't mean the "news" isn't twisted adjusted or simply created. It wouldn't be the 1st time And one more thing, about 40 years ago after owning VW Batle I promised my self no more WEE DUBS. Since 1999 I had golf4 T4 and Amarok and for a good reason.

The only thing that would put me off is the Aus-china trade relationsip at this point- will there be more “trade tensions” etc. comn up that “may” affect chinese companies which could have an effect on its customers- otherwise, chinese manufacturing quality has and continues to rapidly improve in quality- these vehicle brands could do really well- a lot of folks would give their right arm for a 4WD big ute and at 15 to 20k less than what the big guys charge- then really ?390NM and 3ton towing ( more than plenty for most) -- watch this space! - remember what we all said about Hyaundi all those years ago!

@@dessely hate China for no reason? I didn't want to go down the political path too much but your "no reason" comment makes me compelled to. Wow... so the fact that they have threatened to place tariffs on our industries is no reason? That they have called Australians gum stuck to the bottom of their soles simply for calling for an independent investigation into COVID is no reason? Or what they are doing in HK in breach of their international obligations under the 1984 Sino-Chinese declaration is no reason? Or the fact that the recently annexed land from India, after already doing so from Tibet, Vietnam and the Philippines is no reason? Or the illegal militarisation of the South China Sea is no reason? I mean I could go on.....enough is enough...some people need to educate themselves on what is playing out with the Chinese government before you accuse people of hating them for "no reason". By the way, it's not just here....it's a global consensus. Talk to the majority of Indian, Japanese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese people etc and their concerns are the same. I am a strong supporter of the Chinese people. I lived in China teaching English. I am aware that there are some that value democracy. Friends of mine included. But the only way to make an impact to the CCP is through the wallet. Sometimes it's unavoidable and there are no options. But in many cases there are alternatives to "made in China" and people really need wake up and consider this before they make any kind of little contribution to the CCP.
