Welcome to Campbell's Coins. Part 1 of a 8 or 9 part series about my Grandfather's coin collection. He passed away two years ago and left a fairly large coin collection behind. I'm going to bring this collection to you box by box. Enjoy and thank you for watching!

Good 👍🏻! You’d be surprised 😮 at how many family’s , don’t even enjoy their departed loved ones collection, and they just sell off 💰! Unfortunately my late papa wasn’t into coin collection! Oh well 😔 I’m making up for him ! Boston 💪!!

So the point of coin collecting is to die with your collection? Zero business sense. Their sure are a lot of people out their who get way too emotionally attached to coins...that sit in a dark box in a dark closet...oxymoronic.

@@CDubRealTalk I only inherited a couple dozen coins with 0 of the coins being over $50 in value, so very little profit to be had. I will pass these coins down to family members. I have my personal precious metals stack which I view as my rainy day fund.

I bought a 1878 Morgan dollar minted in Carson City it's grade is VG, I'm very proud to have it, I love collecting old coins

Thanks for sharing your grandfather's collection. I inherited my grandmother's collection when she passed 21 yrs ago. Tons of penny and dime sets, paper and 1 1890 circulated Morgan.

Me and your grandfather would of gotten along good. Atleast he got to leave his collection to someone that appreciates it witch isn't the case alot of times. That would be enough to keep me busy for years lol. Good video

the CC GSA are bag marked, not "technically" scratched. NGC is the place to get them graded as they do not alter the shape of the holder and will fit right back into the blue boxes. PCGS encapsulates them in a larger holder and then they don't fit back in the GSA boxes...just say'n. If you have no desire to sell then I'd probably recommend leave them as is and forget the grading fees. They aren't going anywhere and a grade is unnecessary. If you ever do sell then would be the time to grade. Save your grading fees for other stuff. Long term collector here (over 50 years) and I grew up in Carson City. Have a set of CC Morgans at PCGS registry as well. Just enjoy them.

Such a cool thing. Love that most or all of it will stay in the family. When my MIL inherited some coins she went straight to a dealer. Yep, a dealer. We never got to look or offer to buy her out.

When people are hard up for money they will cheat themselves out of wealth for a couple of dollars . If you are going to leave precious assets make sure you educate them on what they will be inheriting and also have life insurance money for them to receive to remove the need to sell their inheritance for cash .

1984 Olympiad Eagles look fantastic - I know modern commemoratives don't carry the premium they did decades ago but that one looks good enough that it will increase in value more in the future than in prior years.

A lot of the Carson City Morgans in those boxes have lots of bag marks all over them. Remember, they were stored inside mint/bank bags before they were finally released to the public which consequently deminishes their value.

Those CC Morgans, will grade in the range of a 63-64. Those marks on the cheeks are called "chatter" With clean cheeks, they would grade a 65-66 depending on other contacts marks on the coins.

I know this is a old video but This is so cool man . I collect anything bicentennial. I don’t know why. It’s great that you have these mementos of him. I wish I had something from my grandfather. Especially something like a CC. I would choose one of those out and never sell it. RIP. I’m curious to what great stuff he had.

@@CampbellsCoins Im in Ireland - I have a lot of tudor coins (Henry VIII AND QUEEN ELIZABETH I) but my curious coin is a silver 5 shilling / dollar struck in 1803 by the Bank of England - ( a BoE silver dollar??) it facilitated trade by having both values minted onto it.

Nice video, I just found this channel. I look forward to the rest of the series. It looks like your grandfather knew at the time that 80/81/85 were rarer and worth more, hence he put a higher bid than 82-84. If only he managed to get an 1879! Pretty cool they'd include a notice on the 1880 about the die variety. My 1882 includes die clash marks on both sides.

@@CampbellsCoins Makes sense, yeah. It's not a time to visit the grandparents at this time. VAMworld is a great site, it took my love of Morgans to the next level. I try to identify the VAM of each coin I have, and helps me to identify abnormalities. My 1891-O has similar clash marks, my 1878-CC is missing part of a star, etc. Someday I hope to buy a nice quality 1880-CC 8/7 and 1900-O/CC.

IMO your grading on the CC's are a bit low..I would send them all in to PCGS. Then please make a follow-up video

After I go through the boxes, I might do a follow up video of coins I'm considering to submit for grading. I will definitely include all the CC's in it. Given the scratches on them, I don't think they will grade very high but I'll show close ups and everyone can check them. Thank you!

Except it's not an 1890, it's an 1880 CC
