Less than two months have passed since a judge ordered the indefinite closure of Park Granada Trailer Lodge Mobile, or Park Granada located at the corner of Main and Carson Street.
A three-minute drive and you will find yourself across Carson Civic Center and Park Avalon, a mobile home park in danger of closure.
In recent years the City of Carson has become a hit for big shot developers. A Los Angeles County city off the 405 Freeway, the City Planning Commission has hoped to shift Carson from a manufacturing city with industrial and factory structures to a destination location. But mobile home park residents are seeing the consequences.
During a time where the coronavirus pandemic has claimed 24,685 lives in Los Angeles County, landlords continue to evict tenants and homeowners in land leases. Despite a federal ban to stop the displacements, Carson mobile home parks are in jeopardy. With three parks set to close and others on the verge, residents are experiencing eviction.
And residents of other mobile home parks are left wondering when they will be next.

if they are good tenants, and unless the rent is ridiculously low, It probably isn't being raised unless the unit is sold then rents have to go up greatly because property tax is based on the new inflated value, along with insurance and bigger mortgage payment

Atone for what??? You people are hilarious you believe you are owed something. No one is owed anything. Own your house on your own land. The owners have a right to make a profit. The problem is they will build something new on it and then bulldoze it 20 years later and it will end up a back alley or another mobile home lot again. Happened in the early 80s when they built a mall in my town and now the space is a trailer park. But, it was several apartment buildings in the 60s and 70s.

Removing a few dozen mobile homes to build complexes for hundreds of homes weights out to be the better judgment. The anger of these few people will be replaced with the joy of a new home for hundreds of new residents in bright, new homes. Just got to weigh out what's best for the most. one mobile home or 15 floor complex on the same amount of land. I'd be angry, too, but I see the progress needed to house many where currently only housing a few.

A lot of cities in the last 40 years have been refusing to license new parks and are shutting down older parks. Some mobile park owners don't keep up the park and it closes while others are victims of the cities closing in around them. When one park was shut down for health code and building code violations in San Antonio, TX, The mobile home owners were left trying to find new places to go. Several homes were too old to fit in the new park's building code standards. it wasn't their fault, but if I lived in a MH, I would save up for "what if" and be ready. perhaps rent some land in the country.

Sometimes folks just have to face the thought of moving to another area where homes are more reasonable. Hint: Try OLD Bullhead City, Arizona. You can STILL buy a mobile home of your own for only $100,000. That’s right, only one hundred thousand, AND that includes the land it sits on, approx. 50’x100’. Seriously, you have the Colorado River a mere walking distance away, with nine gambling casinos on the river bank across the river in Laughlin, Nevada. And we’re only 90 miles south of Vegas. Water taxi’s move people from one casino to the other, for those who don’t drive. There’s plenty of water sports (fishing, jet skies, etc.) and the best Springtime in the nation.

This is horrific! These people PAID for their homes, their security, and they get displaced by greedy developers and city council people. These people are not trash to be discarded. Moving to a new place can be traumatic and why would they trust this developer with their security again? I realise that they had to pay space rent and have been at the mercy of the owners. But they bought their home! And they can't afford to move it! This is evil

The guy in the very beginning upset about people getting evicted and going homeless. He reminds me of people I know. The Hispanic community in general complain just like him but when it comes time to vote they keep voting for the same party that is causing all of this to happen. Liberal cities and states are the ones with the highest rent and housing cost. But ones election comes they see the same party that is causing them to go homeless as the heroes.

The Hispanic community where you live maybe. All the Hispanics I know are middle or upper class and hardworking. Not all Hispanics are like that so you shouldn’t generalize when you say the Hispanic community

@@MatthewP2333 I agree not all, but many if not most. The majority of Hispanics in conversation are conservative in how they view many political topics. But for some reason that does not translate to how they vote.

I rent a mobile home myself on an annual basis, and I do not own the mobile home and the land. I can always walk away from my rental property if the owner wants to sell the land.
