Carving my Rat Rig's Panel Doors out of Lexan using the PwnCNC Spindle

If you don't know.. PwnCNC now sells spindle kits.. premium ones too (pwncnc.com/purchase/ols/categ...) along with a whole host of accessories with many more on the way.
In this video I'm doing a super simple carve into lexan which will ultimately be doors on my Rat Rig V-Core 3 500mm 3d printer... wow that's a mouth full.
I'll discuss my setup for this carve including some intimate details about the PwnCNC Spindle kit I'm using.

As happy as you are that you came out with these spindles. Very close to getting my 4x4 CNC4N so I can order the 1.8 air-cooled from you. Thanks for all you do for the CNC community not just with the spindles, but your other great products that I will also need.

Wish you would have went with a VFD that is compatible with all these hobby cnc controllers with rs-485. You should look into the hatachi VFD.

Hello Mr. Craig, my VFD is fully compatible with either PWM/GND and RS-485 control capabilities. I had the manufacturer design a very special version of the controller with all of the features us hobby cnc owners would want.

@@PwnCNC Gotcha, your website just says (more info on this will be released later) I dont see anything in your documentation section either. What are the settings for getting RS-485 to work?

@@Mr._Craig The VFD is capable of both RS-485 and PWM/GND, but i have not tested it on all of my machines yet. The "more info later" message was i will be working out and publishing detailed instructions for hooking up to each brand cnc's controller.

Question for you - I have a Shapeoko XXL pro - Makita router - bitzero - bit runner - bit setter - the basics. The machine is a dedicated to one task only, for now, and thats milling G10, a composite material often used in knifemaking. Yes, I replied to another of your posts. The piece is basically 9x12 x .250" with profile cuts, through holes and shaping (a fluting pass). The router is way larger than I would ever use, but it is what it is... I run 4 tool operations per part holes/counterbores - fluting - profile - chamfer; based on the info above, are there any dire changes I should make to the machine? Or what, in time, would be the first thing I should upgrade, without breaking the bank, if I even need to. I have a decent dust collection system too. Thanks for your help.

You're actually good IMO. Maybe protections for the machine like our Y-Stepper Covers to keep any dust that escapes your system from causing unnecessary wear on your belts. If I were you i'd look into the Saunders Machine Works aluminum beds and vice. Those are beefy parts that provide a lot of rigidity to your setup. Another upgrade to consider is a proper spindle. But in your case the main advantage would be noise control. Lastly recommended is a good enclosure. I'm working on an enclosure design and hoping to bring it to market very soon.

Hey brother how is that mill right doing ... I bought the 35x35 in August and can't seem to carve ,cut or do anything with it. It carves good and then it kicks over to the right ... I have trouble with the ugs open builds and g sender ..... I was looking for ur opinion....

I'm happy with the Mega-V. Love the rack-n-pinion drive... very strong and holds up well on the hardest of woods which is nice. I run all of my machines with CNCjs running on a raspberry pi. This is an awesome controller software i highly recommend.
