hey guys welcome back to my channel, hope you’ve all been having a good holiday so far! this week's video is actually the last for the year which is so crazy but when i was thinking of what we could look into for it i thought it was about time we finally tackled one of the weirdest beasts on the internet… twinfluencers. if you’ve been around the channel for a while you know i'm just straight up fascinated by internet twins and how many there are online lol but one common trend over the course of the internet seems to be that twins can get up to some extremely weird activity. but regardless of that they keep popping up with internet careers and always seem to do really well… the internet just seems to really love twins. they’re quite literally sprinkled into every content group and you can find tons of them on any social media platform doing anything and everything.
so considering all that i thought we could check out the internet history of online twins a bit today and see what they’ve been up to recently and how their content has gotten wilder! meaning we’re gonna be checking out older online famous twins who have since left youtube like the psychic twins who were popularized by shane dawson, the dolan twins and the caci twins before looking into the “new generation,” i guess you could call it, of twins on other platforms like tik tok’s island boys and the alisov twins… they’re a doozy though i’m warning you right now lol.

I forget where but i saw this online with identical twins where one was getting married and their twin tried on some of the wedding dresses so they could see the dress on from all angles. Kinda neat as long as the non-bride twin doesnt mind.

When I was in high school, I had a friend who was weirdly into twincest and when I was naturally like "please no, don't tell me about that, I think it's gross" and she went on a full on ten minute rant about how I just didn't get the bond between twins and how well it lends itself to ~romance~ and all that. Anyway, me and my identical twin decided not to actually do that sleep over we had planned for that night.

There's this strange fascination about twins in our culture and it spills over into porn. Even in fanfics exists quite disturbing overrepresentation of twin pairings (twin/character/twin) While I understand where does it come from I also can't help but feel deep respect towards those couple brave writers who make their twin characters date different people. Or make one twin date someone while other stays single. Or make one gay while other hetero

I think these people are what happen when their parents and teachers don't let them form identities away from just 'twin'. My old elementary school would split up twins between classes (there were two per year) even if they were fraternal in order to help them form their own identities away from being a twin. It was a written policy. As to why the policy was in place: my elementary school had an abnormally high twin rate. My year alone had a set of fraternal twins and a set of quadruplets (two identical boys, one fraternal boy, one girl).

I'm a woman with a twin brother and whenever I casually mention to someone that I'm a twin, they just automatically assume that my twin is female and looks exactly like me. It's like people forget that boy/girl twin pairs exist. Then the next question is usually along the lines of "can you read each other's minds?" I shit you not, people have been asking me if I have psychic twin powers for 20+ years.

I remember my ex and i were talking about if giving twins matching names were okay. She thought it was amazing and every twin should have matching names. Meanwhile I hate the idea as it basically starts the kids off by not being their own and just a matching set. Like it's fine to dress them up similar for photos, but you have to let children be there own and not a set or else it could backfire.

My brothers have matching names in a way (they're twins) and the names are Alexandros (like Alexander the Great) and daryush like Darius the great (king of Persia) and I believe that this kind of 'matching' is quite nice. They are now older and they're indeed their own people (with personalities that quite match the names gives - they really went all on with the self prophetic name thing huh)

I went to school with a pair of twins. They had matching names, always wore inverse colors of each other (one would wear a black shirt with green writing, the other a green shirt with black writing. That sort of thing), sounding exactly the same, and even their handwriting was identical (and bad). They were cool kids, but there wasn't a single person in that school that could tell who was who. I think the school purposely put them in separate classes to have mercy on the teachers.

I know the school I work at specifically tries to separate twins for that exact reason. Unrelated, I went to an after school daycare as a kid with homeschooled fraternal twins who were sent to daycare to get socialized (which is like dropping your young kid off in the worst part of town to learn how to use public transit lmao) and they were SO WEIRD. They were dressed alike and only wanted to play with each other and referred to each other as Brother and Sister instead of, like, their names, and called their parents Mother and Father and just generally were way too close. Not a clue what happened to them but we were pretty happy to leave them be lmao

you can (probably) tell twins apart if youve known them for some time. i was friends with twins at school. it was only one section per grade, and it was the same people every year, so we were all fairly close. they had the same haircut, same style, their names were the same with literally ONE letter difference, yet we could all tell them apart. it was the way one would carry themselves that could make you tell them apart. they were nice people, sometimes annoying in group projects but still good. they were also talented too, at dance specifically.

I will say, as a fraternal twin, I think there's a huge demand for identical twins. Whenever I say I'm a twin people get all excited until I tell them we're not identical, even though they ask if we're identical when we're standing right next to each other and look obviously very different (and are the opposite sex). As a fraternal twin I feel like I had more room to grow into my own person but still had someone I could share niche interests in.

My cousins are twins (lovely people, literally my favorite family members to spend time with), and they legit went to college together, graduated together, still live together, and still have bunk-beds (economical, yes, but Jesus Christ if I had to live with my sibling as an adult, especially in such close quarters, I'd have to lobotomize myself)

Some of these twin influencers who dabble in “incest bait” reminds me of Ouran High School Host Club. 2 of the main characters in the series are literally called “the incest twins” who use their good looks to their advantage and act out romantic scenarios like the forbidden love troupe.

Advice I’d give to those who are having/raising twins, as an identical twin myself, is to not raise them to be the same person. Meaning let them be their own individuals and don’t force them to always be the same. They don’t need to wear the same outfits or match in everything. When they grow up they may find it hard to separate who they are to what you raised them to be.

I knew twins in hs. I used to identify them as 'glasses' and 'no glasses' because I was an asshole who decided that not learning people's names was a quirky personality trait. But I remember senior year I asked where they were going to college, if they'd go to the same one, and I said something like "I guess I would hate going to school with my sister so probably not huh" and it like blew their mind that I thought of them each as individuals rather than a pair. Idk one's a terf now but I doubt that being a twin made her that way

My dad is an identical twin, so I’ve never understood the fascination with them at all. However, among the general public there is a huge fascination with twins. I’m a hairstylist so I talk to a LOT of people, and I would say the majority are always intrigued by my dad being a twin, wanting to know more as if my dad and my uncle aren’t just normal fucking FARMERS lol. Because my dads a twin and my mom and aunt are best friends, my dads twins kids are more like siblings to me than cousins, and they’re like a second set of parents. I tutored a set of triplets before (two sisters, one brother) and they were very proud of their different identities. one was really big on art, the other music and another in theater. parents never forced them to dress the same, or share rooms, or perform for their friends, and certainly never treated them as if they were the same person. if only these "twinfluencers" were as lucky as those three

Funny thing is, I had two pairs of twins in mind, when I started watching this video, that were nowhere in sight. Maybe that’s just my side of the Internet but the twins I see all the time are Niki & Gabi and Lisa & Lena … but I guess the first are kind of out and the last are just dancing and lipsincing all the time 🤷🏼♀️

Watching this video reminded me of Jacksgap too! From the british wave of youtubers (zoella, joe sugg, alfie etc) from 2012s. Tho i feel they didnt "capitalized" on the fact they were twins it was just a fact. Also now both seem to have quitten youtube and one of them (jack??) is really involved with enviromental activism and the other, so they are doing good. Of the twins content they seemed pretty normal too!

I think it’s so lame when twins make being a twin a part of their personality or like something people should be impressed by. And I am allowed to say this because I am a twin. It usually takes people months to figure out I’m a twin. I don’t hide it I just forget to tell people because like it’s just my brother.

first off your hair looks amazing. the highlights are making you look very glowy. also i am NOT a twin but my younger brother (3 yrs difference) and i look incredibly similar. multiple times when we were in our teens and several times in our adult lives we have convinced others that we’re twins. i think bc i’m the sister it works out a little too well bc people don’t expect us to look exactly identical.
