I would start with a Presto pressure canner. It will not only give you a chance to learn the processes, but they can be as low as $100 for the initial investment. If you have a large stock pot you can put a rack in the bottom and water bath. Canning is amazing and rewarding, but you do not have to spend a fortune on the equipment. I love that you're going to do it. I love it and have done it for years....I think you'll love it too.

A pressure canner is a great investment because you can use them for both water bath canning and pressure canning. I love mine.

Random - how much do you budget for nails and how often do you get them done?

I budget $20-$40 a week and it’s usually $60 including tip every 3 weeks
