Casio AE1200 vs Skmei - Battle Royale

Today I'm going to show you the differences between these "Royale Style" watches.
Obviously the Casio is the original and the Skmei is the pretender. But I was surprised at how the Skmei is much worse in terms of build quality. There is no joy at all in the Skmei and I have to give it a thumbs down.

Dude, for some reason, the analog in top left corner of skmei 1299 is completely useless no? What does it even do I don't get it, I hope you can help me with it?

I was planning to buy AE-1200 the black rubber strap one and cannibalize the black bracelet from skmei. That way I can have a black bracelet Casio royale. You just convinced me I shouldn't bother haha. Thanks man

Casio rocks, skmei copycat sucks. However, about the latter: if there's a positive display, how do they manage to get the figures glowing when the backlight is on, as if the display was negative? Thanks, that was interesting, however, you didn't quite cover everything. How about the alarm tone comparison? Does the daily/hourly/timer alarm in skmei sound the same as in casio, or different?

Thanks for dropping by. I didn’t compare those features because I simply didn’t use them, especially in the short time I held the Skmei. And yes, Casio rocks!

Can you transplant the mechanism from Casio into SKMEI case?

Don’t think so. But don’t do that. The case isn’t that good.

@@AndyinSG For anyone from the future. It didn't work. It can be adopted with some effort, but it's not a pure transplant. The pushers in the SKMEI case are not pushing the buttons well enough on the CASIO mechanism. It can be fixed with some spacers, but you'd have to figure out how to do this. Just leaving this here for anyone trying this.

Yeah, the original here definitely blows the copycat out of the water (except that in the original the figures don't burn from the backlight, but who cares). For instance, the original offers 5 alarms and world time, while in skmei there's only 1 alarm and dual time. Also, in casio royale that circle in the top left makes sense - it's a graphic dial, as for the circle in the skmei homage, what the heck is that for? What does it do? Just decor? Also, the original has a cute world map, the copy doesn't. So why would anyone want the second one if they can afford the first? I recently order that in black colour with a green map, now waiting impatiently.😊

I own both watches. My 16 year old son also. I disagree with your judgement: My SKMEI bracelett is more massive than the Casio one and a lot of more exact manufactured. The Display of the SKMEI is a lot better readable, cause the font is bigger and the "font" design is better. My sons casio got defect after one year. At first it lost its water profeness. Some weeks later the glass got broken. In comparison my sons SKMEI runs since two years and is still water proof. This is in line with my perception. The SKMEI feels more massive and more robust.

I owned 80 over watches, albeit mostly Mechanical and quite a few real vintage ones from Switzerland and Japan. I do not agreed at all with the judgement. The comment that the bracelet from Casio is low quality and the SKMEI even worst. For the price we are paying for these two watches, the bracelet are acceptable. That is the way Seiko 5 watches in the 90s are being made. Once on your hand, it do not give the sound you are taking about. For the price of the SKMEI , it is a great everyday watch ,albeit the fact it is a copy of the Casio one
