If you want to view my In Depth Review of the other, non-Bluetooth Oceanus watch in this video (OCW-S100), follow this link... • Casio Oceanus OCW-S100...
For tips on how to add or remove links from a "Pin and Collar" style watch bracelet like the one on this Oceanus watch, here's a video I made previously... • Casio Titanium Bracele...
This video features an entry-level Oceanus watch with a gorgeous, white color scheme. It has a simple, 3-hand analog display with a date window at the 3:00 position. This watch charges itself with Casio's "Tough Solar" technology and it can set itself to the correct time using Multiband 6 radio reception. In addition, it can set itself using a Bluetooth link to a smart phone or tablet and with the Casio Watches app. This watch has a stainless steel case and bracelet with a high quality finish similar to what folks have come to expect with Grand Seiko watches. The case is water resistant to 100 meters. When the watch is unable to correct itself using Multiband 6 or Bluetooth connections, it will still be accurate to plus-or-minus 15 seconds per month.
Yes, this can set itself using WWVB, here in North America. That's the "Atomic Time" radio station from Fort Collins, Colorado operated by NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Greg, I'm compelled to say that your watch reviews and overviews are my favorite to watch on all of KZfaq. I appreciate what you do. In addition to various G-Shocks and black squares, I have the OCW-S100-1AJF, and sometimes feel I should have gotten the T200 instead as the size might be more appropriate for my 8" wrist, but the face on the S100 is really nice with its indices that are accented in blue on the perimeter. I've now ordered the OCW-S7000A-2AJF from Japan. Can't wait for it to arrive, it's absolutely gorgeous.

The Oceanus S100 in Titanium was my first moderately expensive watch purchase. Sapphire glass, 100m water resistance, solar charging, and always displays the correct time to the second. It looks great on the wrist for any occasion from swimming to business and formal receptions. Probably the best value for money of any watch available anywhere. Yes, I did have to order it direct from Japan but the delivery was entirely trouble free and only took around a week from ordering to having the watch in my hand.

I am from the land down under so there is no radio signal to keep a watch perfectly in time. I do own two Eco-drive watches from Citizen. I bought my first Eco-drive in 1997 and it is still running but the battery can only hold a charge for a little less than a week and it loses about one minute per month. Not too shabby for a 27 year old watch. My other Eco-drive watch was gifted to me by my oldest son and it has a number of bells and whistles that I would rarely use. Nevertheless this watch loses one second every month and as I have owned it now for two years it's close to 24 seconds in arrears. I own 12 watches and I do have my favourites, this newer Eco-drive is one of them. For my 21st birthday I received a Seiko quartz from my father, that was back in 1978. I still wear it as it's very sentimental to me. I have no qualms in wearing a quartz powered watch unlike those that only wear mechanical ones. Quartz watches keep very accurate time and this is important to me. I own 9 watches which are quartz movements and three with mechanical movements.

Hi Greg. Great vid. I recently acquired the exact same watch and wanted to share some info for anyone who also owns one. If you pair the watch to your smartphone, the watch will not receive an atomic signal to calibrate/correct the time. So, if you want the watch to receive the atomic signal, either automatically overnight, or by putting it in "RC" mode, you must unpair the watch from your smartphone. The manual states all of this, however it does not tell you that It's not enough to unpair through the Casio app on your phone. You must unpair from the watch. Here's how to do it: Pull the crown out to the 2nd position, push and hold the "A" button for 10 seconds, then push the crown back in. Now when you push the "A" button, the seconds hand will jump to "RC" and the watch will be ready to receive the atomic signal. Before learning all this, I could only get my watch to go to "C".

Please can you tell me, is the white AR any better than the green on the T200? I'd be tempted to do a transplant and then sell the T4000... not a fan of over complicated chronograph dials really!

Hi. Your videos are very informative. Your other video about the green dial t200 where you mentioned that you can not make the manual atomic time sync to work, were you able to find a fix to that? Just bought a blue dial t200 and received it today, tried syncing it manually myself, I also can not make it work. I know I have atomic signal here in the house because I have 2 marathon atomic clocks (a wall clock and a desk alarm clock) both gets atomic signal for syncing. I also have a casio waveceptor wrist watch, also able to sync automatically. Just want to make sure this function is not broken with the watch I received, otherwise back to the seller it goes.

I did, however, see some listings on eBay (from Japan) for around $47 per link (ouch) and one for only about $27. If I were you I might go for the eBay purchases OR wait and see if PacParts will add that watch to their listings OR call the phone number for PacParts. 310-515-0207

It reminds me of the Waveceptor that I got, but of course much nicer. I would really like a Bluetooth watch, since in my apartment there is no way any watch is getting a time signal from WWV. No way I will ever be able to afford the Oceanus, but there is a rather nice Japanese-market GSHOCK online with tough solar/Bluetooth/Multiband I can snag for around $150 that I am trying to scrounge pennies for. 😂

@mercster
@mercster 6 ай бұрын
One thing I also found with the Waveceptor is, while most quartz movements can keep track of DST/STD for a timezone, it does not; it relies on the radio signal to track the change of the clocks when appropriate. So, I cannot use the "Auto" mechanism, since if the watch is not purposefully sync'd by me, the hour forward/back is not activated. I found that a bit odd!

Hello Greg , I've been watching your videos for a long time now. Maybe you can help me with a question I work on for several days now. I own several citizen atomic watches and I keep hearing about the satellite wave watches. Now my question: What is the better technology? Or shall I say more reliable in the future? Can a satellite fail easier than the atomic clock on earth? Maybe you could give me links to read? Or even make a video on the topic ? I hope you know what I'm trying to say! Best regards Frank.
@GoodTimekeeper
@GoodTimekeeper 6 ай бұрын
I can only guess but I would say that it will be decades before the GPS or the Atomic Time broadcasts (like WWVB) ever change in a way which would make them incompatible with these watches. I wouldn't worry about the future reliability. That said, they are significantly different technologies. The GPS reception will likely only work outdoors while the Atomic Time broadcasts can work indoors fairly well. The GPS reception can happen anywhere in the world whereas the Atomic Time broadcasts will only work in China, Japan, North America and Europe. The GPS watches will generally cost more than the Atomic Time receiver watches with similar overall features. But, maybe, if it's a "fitness watch" style of watch (rather than a G-Shock or Citizen) with GPS the price might be less of an issue. So far, I don't have any GPS-enabled watches in my collection, but I might consider one when the price and features are attractive enough.
@michaelkaliski7651
@michaelkaliski7651 6 ай бұрын
There are free apps that simulate the atomic time signal using the headphone output from a mobile phone. Just run the app and leave the watch next to a headphone and it will set the time automatically just as if you were receiving it off air. Very useful in those areas of the world where radio time signal coverage is spotty or absent. GPS signals can suffer from atmospheric interference and generally use more power to receive the signals. The difference is that you can’t simulate GPS signals with a mobile phone. So atomic time signal over radio, or Bluetooth link to a phone, or an app to simulate the signal on your phone are the most reliable methods to keep your watch exactly on time.
