We need more people to ensure that there is more cultural acceptance around different names and thier meanings. I was profoundly impressed at how immediately the correction of her name was attended to. Identity and representation matters. Only an elegant, Black women, who very is very well aware of her identity and is not afraid speak up and represent for all ethnicities and correct what needs to be corrected. Seems like she is a true role model. Thank you for what you've done, I'm sure you probably know how important it is to be confident and allow others to connect with who you are and your beliefs, through love and understandings, especially for the sake of the young generation. Thank you, you are amazing my sister.

I'm really glad that Jodie spoke up to give young Malea an opportunity - and confidence - to correct the interviewer. It always confuses me how casually Interviewers mispronounce the names of their interviewees as if it's not a show of absolute disrespect. Especially because it's really not that hard to find out how to say the name correctly in advance, at least in the few seconds before taping the video! And still, it happens so often.

Do you actually judge everyone ( including yourself? ) so harshly when they cannot pronounce a complex or complicated name correctly? You automatically jump to: disrespect! If an interviewer doesn't do their homework to attempt to figure out how to pronounce a name, that's one thing, but it is entirely possible, or probable, that a human being across the globe does NOT know how to pronounce a host of cultural names outside of their own. It might be a show of "absolute disrespect" on your part to hold everyone's feet to the fire who are simply not verbally skilled/gifted at pronouncing a wide variety of names in the world. And hypocrisy on your part? ( Be open to an interviewer being embarrassed as well at not being able to "get" the pronunciation, which is a sign of humility on their part. )

I think the interviewer should have tried to say her name again after that. I get he made a joke but it was the wrong choice there.

@@robertwilson3866 - That is an opinion on etiquette, and it is just as polite to not attempt to speak it out and mangle it up and bring attention to her in an awkward way. Although she seems like she would be gracious and laugh it off. Keep the interview going. People need to be more generous towards outsiders who know they cannot pronounce the insider's name. That goes for all of us human beings together.

@@machtnichtsseimann I agree - it isn't a big deal but it does appear a little rude to make a joke then - but we all make little misjudgements in social situations. I would say on the other side of the coin - foreign people say even my name wrong all the time and I don't care. Although they do make more effort than that guy did! :)

I only wish we saw more of Jodie’s character. Her butterfly scene was so crucial. She was such a warm presence on screen and with the family, but much of it was spent simply putting the narrative pressure on Colin. I wonder if things would be different if she was with the original cast

I can't hear Haley clearly, she needs a microphone. Can't believe that's the same Malea Emma from national anthem viral video, she grew up so fast. I'm so looking forward to watch the movie.
