This, along with the magnificent Caernarfon Castle, is one of the impressive castles left standing in North Wales. It was built by Edward the 1st in his attempt to subdue the Welsh uprisings. He was known as Edward Longshanks (think Braveheart).
Along with the two other castles we have filmed so far (Caernarfon and Beaumaris), this castle looks down a short river/waterway, and then out to sea. With Caernarfon Castle at one end of the Menai Straits, Beaumaris Castle at the other, and this Conwy Castle just up the coast, Longshanks maintained an impressive defense from the sea.
Castle in Welsh, is Castell.

I could not agree more. They seem like an easy target to film, but actually I try to be creative with the shots, so that it adds a sense of wonder to the footage. Whether I achieve that or not is for the viewer to decide. 😎 I visited your channel and watched a couple of your videos. They are absolutely superb. You have some great castles over there in Germany. @@EmmaBailey You for sure did a fantastic job presenting this beauty, using well chosen perspectives and a great variation of flight moves. This is what it makes it more interesting to the casual viewer. However, most of them are only watching about 2 min, but we always produce the videos for ourselves, too, aren't we? I love the ocean, what a spectacular location! Water, boats, railroad tracks, trains, roads, cars and a castle! Beautiful! Judging by the boats tied to the sea wall, I'm guessing it is low tide? How much does the water rise there? Definitely adding this to "places I want to visit"!

Thanks for the comment, yeah it's one of those stunning locations that has everything. Correct, the water was at pretty much low (ish) tide. It should come most of the way up the harbour wall in spring tides, and raise the river quite a lot behind the castle. Great strategic spot for a huge castle.

@@EmmaBailey hi 👋 great thanks. It wasn’t the best conditions but I had to make the most of it. Yes I love your videos, the editing is fab. Which software do you use?

The software is Davinci Resolve. It's a bit slow on my PC, so I cannot do much else when rendering 4K videos, but it has great controls for colour and shade etc. I try to make sure I fly the shots I want to begin with though. Makes it easier to edit later on. Each Angle for at least 30 seconds, and it should fit into most music. :)

It is very beautiful, that's for sure. For me though, I think Caernarfon pips it to the post ever so slightly, although they are both magnificent of course.
