Due to lack of time over the last two months I'm now going through your older videos. You made a beautiful trivet. Thanks for showing how you did it. On forehand, before seeing the piece of wood you made it from, I expected a totally different way of making it. (something like a wooden frame with putting bended thin strips of wood in it). But I guess your way gives a far more durable end result. When you started routing (with the first bit) I had the idea that your router (or router bit) was struggling with the wood. But the end result is fantastic.
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes the bit was struggling and I killed it in result. However the second bit was far better fitted for this project and made it work a lot better

A question & a comment. Question did you use some sort of stop at the end of each slot or just “eye ball it”. ? Comment even a cheap router bit will last longer if you clean them more often . Resin or pitch build up caused the bit to retain heat , heat kill bits . Nice project!
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY Жыл бұрын
Just eye ball it. Yes that true and its time for me to do a major clean up of my router bits and saw blades

Coincidently I have got a 600 x 600 mm beech glue up cut off from the time i was making my workbench, its 4cm thick tho, so I guess the Chinese cheap bits will be tested and hopefully I will have an excuse to get me some proper CMT router bits. So CMT edge router + chinese bits = win? :)

Hi Tomasz Great project ! Question for you. I see that you're using the KATSU Router ! Whilst this project called for quite a bit of hardcore routing what would be your opinion of the Router as it's a knockoff of the MAKITA RTO700CX3J at a fraction of the price ? TIA

@@Zamboni-0805 it's for everyone else that doesn't have granite tops then 🤣 If you put scorching hot pot on it it may, but it's better to leave marks on the Trivet rather then on your kitchen top isn't it?
