One of many Swedish traditions is to catch and cook crayfish for a crayfish party called "Kräftskiva" ( kräfta = crayfish, skiva = a kind of party).
-----
Our recipe is as follows:
For 2 kg of crayfish you need
5 liters of water
2 dl of salt (the larger grain sized)
10 sugar cubes
1 beer (about 33cl)
about 20 stalks of dill. (mainly the head or flower is used but you can put the whole bundle in if you like a stronger dill taste)
Cook for about 9 minutes, and cool!

Andreina Rangel and I won’t ruin this man’s comment thread with an argument. His video was a nice distraction from What I FEEL is a nation in crisis. Way different here in Louisiana. Catch them with set nets, purge them in salt water. I use a 100 quart pot and fill half with water. When the water boils, add 12 lemons, 12 onions, 12 heads of garlic 1 big jar of Cayenne pepper, Liquid boil seasoning and salt. Add 35lbs of crawfish, 15lbs of B sized red potatoes and 12 ears of corn, whole mushrooms, carrots, whatever. Wait for the pot to return to a boil , then boil about 3 minutes. Turn off burner and let soak 30 to 40 minutes. The longer the soak, the spicier they will be. Dump entire batch on table. He who eats fastest, eats the most!

I love how these little guys are so universal! When I lived in Texas we called them crawfish, or mud bugs. Best summer treat was to go to a crawfish boil, we'd buy them by the pound, boiled in spicy Cajun seasoning and ready to shell, along with potatoes and corn. Man, I miss the ubiquity, I could get them anywhere (even off-season, but they weren't worth it.) I can get them where I live now but they're tiny and expensive because it's not so common around here. Good video too, as always. I envy your day-to-day, at least what you show us. Looks like a wonderful life and family.

A cool fact is that while crawfish/kräftar is delicious, the shells are also a good source of calcium carbonate, so you can just burn them in a furnace and get a pretty useful substance for various uses! If I had a hot enough oven, I'd gather tons of eggshells and shrimp/crab shells, clams etc. and try to make my own batch of "pure" calcium carbonate powder for hobby projects and gardening, etc.
