Today, I’m reacting to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2012) starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, and Elizabeth Banks. In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh survival against love.

Yes, spiles are real, but they’re traditionally used for getting the sap out of maple trees (for syrup), rather than for drinking it straight. But you can totally drink maple sap (it’s very diluted compared to syrup and is only mildly sweet), and I definitely assume some trees, much like cactus and bamboo, have very watery sap or similarly store water.

@@smdownh9 Yes! I'll be reacting to Mockingjay, then finish it off with a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes - which I haven't seen yet.

This had made me want to rewatch these. And reread the books. I remember not liking the second half of book 3. Like I was so angry about so much...but i think maybe i was just mad people I liked died and I too young to accept being mad was supposed to happen and okay lol Movie wise I think I'll have some of the same complaints though. My favorite originally was The Hunger Games. I remember hating the love triangle of the 2nd and 3rd. But I'm so curious if despite that I might appreciate some of this and Mockingjay more now that I'm older.

Rereading the books has definitely been an experience. A lot of more "adult" details and conversations that I didn't really pay attention to or appreciate as a kid. I will always hate the love triangle tbh lmao I didn't like it as a kid and I still don't like it. I always felt it was clear in the books that Peeta was endgame for Katniss.

@KristinaEspinoza yes! I hated the trend of love triangle even though one person is so obviously the better choice. Just give me one good romantic partner and let me watch them fall in love.
