Catching Mangrove Jack and Threadfin on Lures in one of Mackay’s Mangrove Lined Creeks

3 жыл бұрынWent for a snag bash with the misso testing out the new colour Lucky Craft Pointer 78XD -Magma Heat Up Gill against the local Mangrove Jacks. Caught a nice fish in the first 10 minutes of fishing and fished the falling tide for a few nice jacks and other miscellaneous species. As the tide bottomed out we found a heap of Threadfin Salmon and plucked a few before getting back to the ramp before school pickup.
Rod - Dobyns Champion Extreme 702C
Reel - Shimano Calcutta Conquest 200HG
Line - Sunline Castaway 30lb
Leader - Sunline FC Rock 40lb
Lure- Lucky Craft Pointer 78XD
Terminals - BKK Fang 663UA #6 (front) #8 (back) & #3 BKK split rings.

I do not see a date of when this video was made. But I have to say that location is what is called paradise. So build your Hut in the mangroves, and live there forever. You will need to plant some vegetables.

Dude thank for making thing simple to understand. What split ring size would you recommend using for an upgrade? And you just cast and retrieved? You don’t do that twitch, twitch, and pause?

Size 4 with a size 4 BKK fang on a pointer 100XD and yeah just steady retrieve works well on jacks 👌🏻

I run a pe2 braid which is 30lb and a 40lb leader generally, that covers most fish you’ll come across with that kinda stuff..

Do you use any tactical angler clip for changing lure? I notice my 100XD would start sinking rather suspend? Is that normal?

I do sometimes but heavily refined Japanese lures need to maintain there balance after being upgraded so I use a heavy nylon leader to help hold the lure up…

The balance between your music overlay is out. The music comes on and I turn down the volume then you talk and I have to turn in back then you stop talking music comes on and it way to loud.
