I was up in Monterey to play golf in 2002. I was a huge Eastwood fan so I decided to take my wife to dinner at his place called Mission Ranch where he was known to sometimes just show up and play piano. We got there around 6 but waited and extra 45 minutes for the table next to the piano because I had seen pictures of him eating in that exact spot. We never expected him to actually show up. They had a great piano player that night but right as we were about to leave Clint walked in. He walked all around talking to his employees and then walked over and sat down less than 10 feet from us and began playing. It was awesome. He played for about 1/2 hour and then stood up and asked us if we enjoyed our dinner. It was an awesome night. He made our day.

Not for everyone. Around 34m:15s - Bradley Cooper enters the chat... He was there, listening in 2003. All of it, just after the comments from Clint, about "the art of listening". And before it, around 34:00-34.02 - the wide shoot of the audience, and Bradley is the guy in the first row, blue shirt, right hand side, first guy on the right. Just after that time, you have a much more detailed shoot of him (as mentioned in the first sentences).

In my lifetime, I may never see another actor who will come half as close to being like Clint Eastwood. I have seen most movies he acted in and have enjoyed every one of them. Clint has style, his abilities in capturing your attention in movies from start to finish have been incredible. My favorites have been High Plains Drifter, Outlaws Josey Wales, Pale Rider, Hang Um High, Dirty Harry, Heartbreak Ridge, and Grand Torino. Many of his movies were made before I was born. He is one fantastic actor and has given many gifts to us all through his movies. 🙇‍♂️

I've admired Clint for about 50 years. I wanted to be a filmmaker just like him. Actor and director. In high school, my friend and I drew cartoons with Clint's characters. It was great fun and now in 2024, I still do occasionally. One of my favorite quotes about Clint's directing came from Tom Hanks. He said "Clint treats his actors like horses."

It was a success but 1 of the film crew was killed and the author of the novel which the movie was based on was withering in his evaluation. I'm a big fan of both the author and Eastwood as well. I see Eastwood really wasn't the best fit for the role in terms of the printed page but it was definitely an above average thriller as you said. Best guess ? Clint has had so many cinematic triumphs with comparitively minimal qualifications , 'Eiger' gets the stepchild treatment.

Rather than "stale and talentless" I would call Hollywood restricted by lobbyists for the woke agenda. It is possible to make a movie with people from different walks of life without shoving the abstract into the audience's faces. A good story told will be accepted by an audience no matter what characters are included.

You haven't heard of the McCarthy witch hunt in which many brilliant and talented people were hunted down and ostracized. LGBTQ didn't exist and those people had to live in closets .
