my sweet man, the reason he kept saying “shotgun” and why she bled when he put on her ring is bc of the “shotgun wedding,” when you’d knock a woman up and her daddy would stand by with a shotgun to make sure y’all got married so the child wouldn’t be born out of wedlock. it’s a forced wedding, more or less. hence “a nice day for a white wedding” is irony. In a traditional “white wedding” the bride is supposedly a virgin, which is impossible in a shotgun wedding where the bride is necessarily pregnant.

LUV OMG no one is mad at you. See I'm 46. My generation was originally called the Mtv Generation before they started calling us Gen X. That's because we grew up on this stuff. We remember how great it was to see these videos in their purest form when we were kids. So we don't want you to miss out on that if some demonic presence got you to watch some acoustic abomination. We're trying to protect you. We only want you to have the very best not some equate version. That's all. You're best bet with anything from the early 80s is going to be to watch the Official Video first, if available. Otherwise, album versions. Live versions can be better but they can also be total crap. So your virgin ears would be better off starting with an original version and if there's a live version that improves upon that, hearing it second will just be gravy.

Sometimes when folks say you did the wrong reaction, you didn’t really do the wrong one. Some performances/versions are more epic than others, and folks are ridiculously happy for you to experience that. They should lighten up on how they express it to you, but really, they love your reactions, and they want you to feel the same experiences we did when we heard them. That first reaction sets the stage, and you are like our kid that we want you to have the MOST EPIC and MOST IN YOUR FACE reaction.

There is an interesting story about the music video for "Cradle Of Love". Billy Idol got into a motorcycle accident, and broke his leg. He appears in the music video from the shoulders up, appearing several times in the music video, while a completely different, yet entertaining, storyline takes place in the music video.

The bride is played by Perri Lister, Idol's real-life girlfriend at the time. Idol forces a wedding ring made of barbed wire on Listers finger, she wanted it to really cut her finger, so that is real blood, so many different versions of this song, people just wanted you to see the original but it is completely your choice, people need to understand that.

I've only seen Billy Idol live once about 20 years ago. He came out on stage and said "I hope you guys don't mind but I'd like to practice my set for VH1 Storytellers (acoustic set)". Rebel Yell was probably his signature song , but he actually did a much softer song which is my favorite called EYES WITHOUT A FACE. It has a beautiful melody to it. Much different then most Billy Idol.

I am a 65 year old woman and Rebel Yell is one of my all time favorite albums, I still listen to it on occasion. On Saturdays my granddaughter and I get out my old record player and play albums the whole day, the best part about playing albums is choosing what to play next I have a couple of hundred to choose from and we have a blast! The point about Billy Idol is that, be it an official video from the 80s, an acoustic performance with Steve Stevens on guitar, a live performance from 2020, and another live performance , soon, in 2001, its BILLY, and its FANTASTIC !!!! Just wanted to say that I LOVE your musical trip to the 80's and 90's! I was 6 when the 80's started and 26 when the 90's ended, so those songs hold a lot of meaning for me. Childhood. High school. College. The Army. Marriage. 20 years worth of music and memories of going from a child to an adult. Of course there's music before and after that time period that I love, but those two decades represent me becoming the human being I am today, and all the highs and heartaches along the way. So to have someone discover that music for the first time.... well, it's nice to be able to share the music.

Thank you! I saw his first tour of the US and it was awesome and I love all the 80’s music you’re playing! It takes me back to the carefree days of my youth. Today is also my “cancerversary” - I was diagnosed with Stage 4B non-Hodgkin lymphoma on 10/22/2010. Now, 10 years later my oncologist said that sometimes he sees people who never relapse and that he thinks I’m one of those people! He never says “cured” or speaks in absolutes, but that’s basically what he’s saying. You, and your audience, are the only KZfaqr I’ve ever shared something like this with but I love you and your community. I’m also celebrating you passing 100k subscribers! Congratulations 🎉 XO - J
