Thanks for this-the most comprehensive video I’ve seen on Cava! We are headed to Penedes and Priorat in October. Any particular wineries not to miss? Gracias!

Thank you very much @morgs9494! I am really happy that you enjoyed it. They are both terrific regions to head to in search of some of the best Spanish wines, you will be spoiled for choice! A few I wouldn't miss would be: 1. www.recaredo.com 2. www.llopart.com 3. umesufantres.com/en/wine-tourism/ And for the Priorat it is very hard to pick just a few! But I know that the below wineries do take tastings and visitors: 1. www.cellersdescaladei.com 2. www.masdoix.com 3. www.closmogador.com and for a smaller cellar - www.cellerbartolome.com/en/contacto.html and for one of my favorites! www.vinyesdomenech.com/en_US/ I hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy lots of great wine, and good company! Salut!

Oh my God! Please forgive me. I put the playback speed of your video onto 0.24 in order to view the bottle you were holding at 6:38... and you sounded soooooo drunk. 😂 It wasn`t intentional, but was terribly funny considering the topic. An informative video nonetheless. Thank you.

Hello Mazerunner SS. Thank you for your comment and I am glad you enjoyed the video! The grapes can (and usually are blended), but for Cava and any Spanish sparkling wine there really isn't a 'one shoe fits all' approach. Every winemaker will decide what grapes they choose for the blend of each cava. The most traditional blend would be of course as you said three grapes, Xarel.lo, Macabeu and Parellada. But, in recent years I have seen many single varietals, including 100% Pinot Noir (Raventos de Alella - Titiana) and 100% Xarl.lo. Many in Corpinnat have also changed the traditional approach with Recaredo using Monastrell in its current vintage. So to answer your question - yes and no! It always comes down to winemaker preference and if they want to stay with tradition or try something a little different. I hope that answers your question. :)
