Cavalry soldiers in South Korea learn about Russian tanks

Soldiers of the U.S. 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, nearly two months into a nine-month rotation in South Korea, peered this week inside a Cold War relic, one they may still encounter on the battlefield.
At the Rodriguez Live Fire Range, troops of 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Hood, Texas, inspected Russian T-80 battle tanks courtesy of their South Korean army hosts. South Korea still fields the T-80 as part of its arsenal.

미국이 T-80U 도입을 우려했을거라 생각했지만 오히려 더 좋았다고...왜냐하면 이라크전에서 상대한 대부분 러시아 전차들은 대부분 다운그레이드형 전차였지만 우리가 운용한 T-80U는 다운그레이드가 아닌 러시아군 스펙 그대로 받은것이니...

This is kinda old. Given the recent performance of the T-72/T-80 tanks in the Ukraine I'm going to bet there is more than a little concern from about survivable from the Korean crews.

When it was introduced, it was the latest tank. Thanks to it, we were able to build a good tank.

Every tank has a nightmare in ukraine bcuz there’re no goat herders and both armies have artillery, tanks, air force. Every tank is vulnerable to fpv drones. U might check how 1 t-80 completely destroyed an entire ukrainian column alone including 2 tanks and winning 1 engagement in close combat. Again every tank is good but it just happens that they can not escape from 200$ fpv drone
