Adding to what Allen Huling said, make sure that colored dot is in line with the valve stem. You didn’t mention balancing the tire before putting it on the bike. With the knobbier tires, you can sometimes get away with not being very precise, however, I wouldn’t put it on without even checking to see where it’s at balance wise. It could give you a serious vibration if it’s far off of balance. Quick and cheap way to balance is to put the axel back through the tire and sit the edges of the axle in some sort of stand. The stand also needs to be level. The heaviest part of the wheel will rotate to the bottom and you add weight directly across from the 6 o’clock position. Hope this helps. Keep learning and posting!

When removing tyres from the rim, one side at a time and both off the same side.....tyres are fitted one side at a time, make sure the opposite side of the tyre is in the centre of the rim (in the slot).... thats why it was so hard... bouncing the tyre as its being inflated also helps in seating the bead....

Hey Mark, and Matt. Enjoying the new format to the vids, and having just done my tires as well, learned a couple things. As I understand it, lining that colored dot on the tire up with the valve stem helps the balance of the tire. Also, generous amounts of tire lube really helps the tire to seat fully (I had trouble with mine not seating correctly until redoing with more lube). Keep up the good work!

Some Carbs chokes restrict the air flow and some inject extra fuel but the principles the same in that your enriching the supply to the engine. Just be careful putting tyres on that you dont put weight on the sprocket or disc side and warp them . So with that side upwards lube the tyre and pop one side of the tyre over the rim then starting at the valve, put the other side of the tyre onto the rim pushing it into the centre curve [as per Matts drawing] which gives you extra room to lever around the rim and get the rest of the tyre on finishing opposite the valve. As your doing a tube on the front be careful not to nip the tube as your levering the tyre on or you will have to take it off again, Id suggest getting two tubes, [been there done that ] . Bouncing the fitted tyre on the floor helps seat the rim pre inflating too.

another good trick is to not put the valve in until bead is seated, gets more air in quicker.

If it’s a choke, then it’s closed when in use (butterfly valve closes/restricts air flow through carb) If it’s an enrichener, then it’s open when in use, allowing extra fuel in. To see which one the CB has, look at the carb. Enricheners are generally screwed into the side of the carb, chokes usually operate by a lever on the carb, leading to a butterfly valve in the carb throat. The CB250 probably has a cv carb and an enrichener, but I could be wrong just a guess. The DR650 has a CV carb and enrichener.

Mark, I came across a young guy from Texas who has a channel you get some ideas from on this build. @classicoctane seems he does A LOT of scrambler builds. Although he uses older Hondas.

you take the valve out and put the air direct into it it will pop the tire onto the bead
@harrybrown4815

on tubless tyres once you got them to pop; over pressurise the tyre sound strange but their is a good reason, then put the wheel flat and run a little water with a drop of soap in it around the bead. what you are looking for is any tiny air bubbles that indicate a tiny leak through the bead its quiet common to find them on a newly fitted tyre. How to stop the micro leak... take a heavy hammer like a copper head and whack the wall of the tyre be careful not to smack the rim and make sure the opposite tyre wall is on a flat surface. this should cure the mirco leak. check both sides, just the balancing of the wheel to do and your done ready to refit. ? did you fit the dot on the tyre to the postion of the valve?

You forgot your valves in the drawing . The piston doesn't block of the hole to the fuel , the intake valve shuts and the piston compresses the air fuel mixture and so on .

Ummmm have I been doing it wrong? That little yellow dot on the sidewall should line up with the valve! Also if you don't have a wheel balancer go buy some balance beads. Matt you are young and still enjoy putting your fingers in dangerous places. Keep em away from inside the tire and rim :)

Fuel system cleaner in first, then add the fuel, helps it mix through. Idling and revving won't do much, needs to be run up and down the gears. But can't do that till its regoed, right ? Just a thought, while your at it, some 90* valves might make for less drama checking and filling with air. Keep on keeping on guys, watching with interest.
