Not only is she one of the coolest rock chicks in the planet, but she truly signifies what a "rock chick" is---strong, forthright, a supreme songwriter and simply badass! And she's not the one anyone should fuck with. I love her "fuck you" attitude. If you don't like her, it don't matter to her. And if you do, then "come on in and enjoy my music!" On that note, I can imagine the Chrissie Hynde biopic (I'm actually OVER biopics, actually). And the actress to play her, no one other than Gina Gershon.

I thought he did a good job. She's kinda a tough nut to crack and as honest as she is (and I loved the book, love her music, and loved the interview, you could kinda see her jut her chin out, figuratively.. here and there, which is fine by me.

Silas Marner thats for sure. At the beginning it sounded a little too political or analyzed from the interviewer especially regarding the drugs part. Chrissie chose her words well here and it got better. So many girls out there obsessed with the social media culture should listen to her. Inspirational to say the least.

Chrissie Hynde's singing voice is my favorite in rock. Brass in Pocket -- range, emotional expression, tone, control. Top shelf.
@briseboy
@briseboy 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Chrissie. There aren't a lot of singers with that vocal agility you talk or. Brass is what they call brass knuckles, so listen to it to find Crissie's personality a little better. Yeah that voice - it is contralto. She was the feminist I want . . . for president, just like her voice and vocal vignettes. She should have run for prez last year - she was sharp, fearless, true to her ideals, and incorruptible. But she just wanted to play guitar. A better fate. We knew she wrote the songs. Turns out she's almost 70 or so now &so glad she's still growling. Chrissie WAS wrong about punk rockers not knowing music - I almost moved into a place on the side of Mt Sutro with some. Had a musical background , and walked in - they were playing Bach! She made it when we were up in Mammoth skiing, climbing, escapin' the chain gang.

I could listen to her for hours...I love her honesty and unapologetic account of those times.....in a business that's become very fake and generic it is so refreshing to listen to someone in music who has integrity ....She was part of a very small group of female artists to front a band....they changed the rules...they created something new instead of just reacting to what was already there....Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, Siouxsie Sioux and Polly Styrene ....each one unique in style and sound....the opposite of generic...they fought against sexism, they fought against the status quo and now they fight against ageism....Legends...real ones...not X Factor ones

"Said it out loud, out loud in a crowd" that lyric in Talk of the Town is so Dr Seuss and at the same time, sort of Ian Anderson comical, it's perfect homage to a deeper legacy of art in such a simple, playful rhyme. That's just one example of the genius of Chrissie Hynde.

The Pretenders played a classic venue Massey Hall in Toronto years ago, and I happened to drive by just before the show and wished I had a ticket. Chrissie and the band were one of my favourites, and she still has that magical voice. I pulled up and there was one scalper left, and he had a single, front row center balcony ticket. Not easy to sell single tickets, and so the price was right. A n hour later I found myself in the best seat in the house. It was incredible! Something I will never forget.... This is a great interview and now I know more about one of my heroes! Shad did a great interview and we don't see much of that. He really let this be about Chrissie.I just saw a video with Chrissie and Stevie Nicks on tour and they are both such legends...

What a fascinating interview. I remember buying the Pretenders first album at age 16 and was blown away how, even now, it doesn't fit into any single category. Even reviews of her current tour opening for Stevie Nicks right now leaves present day reporters sputtering, trying to put their fingers on it, but they miss the point. Excellent interviewer (way to go dude). I hope Chrissie has much more to sing & say in the future. XOXOXOXO

I've adored her from day 1, sharing being born in the same decade, her fearlessness, her insight into how America started to crumble back in the 70's, her fabulous band and music. And maybe this was a blip of a flub, but, at around 34 second in she says she was 14 when the first Beatle's album came out. Uh, she was born in 1951. I'm gonna let it slide, because she's always been a woman who shunned society's rules for us, which at that time, was a much bigger uphill battle than it is today. I'm still a huge of for her outspokenness especially as she always advocates for women's power and truth telling. And if you read her book, you'll learn she faked it till she made it and is unabashed to admit so. There are those in life you have the perfect synchronicity of kismet. She's one of them. Her book is testimony to that.

No one in rock has got me to laugh and/or cry as much as Chrissie Hynde. For example: in "Pretenders" she took the most impossible lyrics for song, and she yet twisted and phrased the words and produced a classic in the genre. Brilliant! All these decades later, I'm so happy she's articulately explained what was going on in her youth - about her herself, and the culture. Thanks to Mr Power for the interview.

I loved listening to Chrissie talk about the early times in Akron, Ohio. Radio back then was not pre-programmed and was not owned by corporations. The disc jockeys could play whatever they wanted, in whatever towns or cities they lived in. (When I was a kid, I did the same thing late at night - laying in bed with a portable AM/FM radio). She is so fascinating to listen to. She definitely chased after her dream and she speaks from experience and with authority. Her life experience musically and emotionally is incredible and I cannot get enough of this woman and her storytelling. She was beautiful then and she's beautiful now, inside and out. Brutally honest, intelligent, and thoroughly captivating. An excellent interview.

Of all, Chrissie Hynde is my very favorite. She 's not wanting to shine alone but be part of something bigger. That's me, too, and lots of us.

The interviewer is excellent. A real mind, who is engaged, and not mouthing questions that he doesn't care about or knows. He is very good. and prepared.
