U.S. Navy SEALs are some of the nation's most elite and secretive of warriors. But for the first time, some SEALs are breaking their code of secrecy to speak publicly about drug abuse in the ranks. They also accuse fellow SEALs of "selling the Trident." David Martin reports.

Act of Valor is used to illustrate the violation of quiet professionalism, but that film was produced by Navy SOCOM. All of the SEALS that appeared in that movie were given orders from their unit to participate.

Drew / AKA Recruitment tool for the Navy. Air Force does the same shit with all their cool fighter jet F-22 commercials, what they don't tell you is you have to graduate top of your class from the Air Force Academy to fly a 300 million dollar fighter jet and if you enlist out of High School you just get to gas it up and salute the pilot. Go Army! HOOAH!
@andrewpilone
@andrewpilone 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. This perfectly illustrates my point. The individual operators are not to blame in this case. They were just following orders.
@Robert-po8jn
@Robert-po8jn 7 жыл бұрын
Rork has even said in many interviews that they didn't show modern tactics in Act of Valor unless it is a known or commonly used by other units. They had to reshoot a few scenes because they felt it was getting to close to giving operational secrecy of tactics away. Also most of the SEALS that played a roll in that movie were not active duty and those that were given orders were done so that they could go and do it. They have to have approval to do work outside of the Navy so orders would have had to be issued especially for the length of time away from their duty station.
@andrewpilone
@andrewpilone 7 жыл бұрын
Interesting, but the point I was making was that this was not outside the Navy. It was produced by the Navy. Orders were not given to accommodate their participation. Their participation was a result of receiving orders. They literally were ordered to participate in the film.

It is SAD that, for so many generations before these brave guys, men have fought and died for this Country with Courage, Honor and Commitment. As a retired U.S Combat Marine myself, (1988-2011) I have seen the changes across the board period. Begining in 1995, it only worsen in 2008.That is why after 24 Years of dedicated Service, I had to leave. My professional opinion here, Politics and the "New Culture" coming in with Millennials service personnels, are tarnishing the morals and values we once held to a higher standard honored. Back through the 90's, I get the feeling that they were much more closed mouth as far as procedures and what they did compared to now where there are people who talk a lot more about it now than they did then! What they are doing is potentially ruining the element of surprise down the road. As far as the drug issues with a handful of individuals, I have to wonder how the environment they are in contributes to the problem, and do they have avenues to be able to blow off steam so they don't get assault or worse kinds of charges? I have to wonder how much of this is from the system?

The SEALs are drowning on their own fame weakening the Team. I am retired Veteran, when I was in active duty I had the highest respect for Seals. The Seals I met were the silent professionals, but nowadays, the Seals are just a bunch of clowns running around with their fame and ego, making movies glorifying their foul ups on the Lone Survivor, having podcast in You Tube talking about Seal stuff exposing themselves, grabbing fame on shooting Usama Bin Laden. That's not professionalism anymore. A professional military is someone who does their job, get the mission done, go home to the family, and shut the heck up. No need for fame, because the most rewarding is serving this great country of ours.

Charles Richard Seel - 3rd battalion, 4th Marine Kilo Company, November 6, 1984 - January 29, 2018. Okinawa Japan, I talked to him on the phone two weeks before his death and he told me he knew he was going to die from somebody within, and nobody ever seeked the truth. His words were if you had a militia that was willing to risk their lives would be the only way I would stay alive, I have photos of him on live pictures that the military had taking where he look like he was drowned repetitively, malnourished, beaten neglected, and in the same week another soldier gets an honor for rescuing soldiers on the surf four soldiers to be exact. I want Justice for my brother, as well as his entire family & friends & Navy Seals that seek the highlight of pursuing this opportunity. Even if it's "top secret" that's unjust, documents on google explain of his projects involved in, and instantly changed because of team change. It took them a month and a half to ship his body, and all of the investigating everyone has done was not addressing his life was in danger within his crew, and commanding officer. There is a lot more behind what's going on, but who wants to challenge the Navy SEAL department, like we could really battle something like that without the most finest expensive layer that would take on the US government for a case like this. Even though their are many soldiers like this, unjust answers (suicide) is a lie. I want his records pulled where he told me over the phone that he knew he was going to die. And his commanding officer left insane remarks with extra aggressive comments as well as threats on his ex-wives voicemail, he had just gotten into an argument with his current wife over the issues he just had a son with/ that he had with his personal life interfering with his company or job within the Marines code. I am his twin brother, & I had to watch my mother sit in the corner for 2 years. As an American I was taught to stand up, so here I am standing up for my belief that the only way United we Stand is if somebody will come out and admit the truth. #Trump #CharlesSeel #unmaskthetruth #youknowibelyingwhen #imgoodyo9802 #christopherjeromeseel #NavySeals

Change age to 21 before basic any special forces training. Airborne school could be an exception. “Loose lips sink ships” an old US Navy poster. What does a book OR movie or documentary do? It sinks ships. World knows little of SAS, even less about Spetznaz, GSG9, Mossad or whatever they’re called. Our military is suppose to protect the Democratic republic but live under another. What part of national defense and special is so confusing. US should not allow anyone under 21 to even start basic special forces training. Maybe Airborne school. But the other require so much maturity and let’s face it. You people aren’t mature enough to handle such things things. To many kids join to be “extreme”. Green Beret have a good idea in requiring people to be NCO. Which means they’ll have a few years of experience and evals and work performance. The public, who pay attention have known this for 10-20 years. The navy has simply refused to accept it. How many people would be a seal if they had to conceal everything. No identity, no public recognition. Our enemies are better than they would be because they learn our tactics.

The military and police should be drug tested constantly.

The rest of the conventional forces can get drug tested even while deployed... Sounds like a socom issue to me. But at the same time..depending on what drugs they are using.. id give them latitude because they go longer and harder in worse conditions than the rest of us. Not condoning it..but meth was developed for SS troop enhancement...as nasty as it is it gave them a significant edge in ww2. We get "vitamin" packs in the field that assist us as it is.

Seals have become a military crutch to execute more and more missions. They are still “men” at the end of the day.. are people really surprised that people went to a substance to get them through their problems.

all of our special forces training and tactics should be secretive! I don't want to know how / when or why something was done as long as it keeps the children of America safe!

john jones it doesn’t matter. You can’t reinvent the wheel and all special forces in every country uses the same tactics. It depends on the person and tech for the mission.

You make it seem like this is just a recent seal issue.. it's just now out in the light but it's probably even worse back in the days.. there was probably never any drug tests for sof operators.. heck they give them drugs to operate known as "go" drugs
