Arizona Senate repeals 1864 abortion law as Florida's goes into effect

Florida's six-week abortion ban went into effect on Wednesday, meaning it will now be nearly impossible to get an abortion anywhere in the South. Meanwhile, the Arizona Senate voted to repeal the 1864 near-total abortion ban that the Arizona Supreme Court reinstated in April. CBS News' Janet Shamlian and Nidia Cavazos have the latest.

Because Conservatives created the Abortion issue as a way to maintain power. It's how Conservatives hold onto power, and gain power. It's an ideology that breeds sociopathy, and that lack of empathy towards anyone else is how they consistently vote against starving children, or children in cages, or how they will destroy the Economy just so they can whip up their Base to go out and vote for them, or how they will just let thousands of their own voters die (of heat or disease) if that same policy kills at least as many of their political opponents. They also know desperation will drive people to vote more Conservative.

It's a product of having a two party system when out in the real world, people aren't in two neat boxes. As a result the extremists, who should by all rights start another party, instead have to infiltrate one of the big two, to have a sniff of power. Meanwhile, the GOP tacks ever harder right so as not to lose those voters. Similar things happening in the UK, albeit on a different scale.

Women today are incredibly responsible they are foregoing marriage and children until they have their careers, financial security, and a marriage that supports them in all aspects of family planning. They are having their first child on average in their early thirties. This power grab is not going to be tolerated. Make America family friendly again and maybe we’ll raise the fertility rate!

This must be done on voluntary basis. Create programs that would incentivize people to follow your philosophy. Forcing people into an unwanted parenthood is proven to be a disaster. A different approach is needed.

Republican claiming the moral high ground ,whatever that is. Can't have sex unless you are married and no contraceptives. so it only is for procreation. Since the average family has 2 and a half kids... We can only have sex 2 and half times in our lives.

Sex isn't something to rush into especially for young people who still need to go to school and kids are born isn't based on the amount of sex someone gets, I have no idea where you got that from. Sex is great IN a marriage because both are in total agreement that whatever happens they'll always be together. Until death do us part as they would say. But if you think that's being too traditional and lame go right ahead and be like all the welfare black moms who are having kids born out of wedlock 70% of the time and they need a father but he's not there so the gangs are their new dad which is very sad.

Just to clarify, most Republicans support at least some form of birth control so I doubt we will be seeing things go to this extreme, although there are those pushing for it.

@@iLikeTigerz101where have you been black teen pregnancy rates has been dropping since the 90’s. The average age of women having the first child is 33 and the only age that has seen an increase in birth is women over 40 years olds. Your racial fertility stats are outdated.
