As a Afghan Vet, this brings tears. I didn’t have this or family for me when I got back to the states, but I’m glad these soldiers had someone to salute them as a welcome home.

My stepdad was stationed in fort Carson prior to his 4th tour and final deployment to Afghanistan in 2012… He never made it home from that. His name was SSG David Nowaczyk. War’s a terrible thing. Never forget that freedom isn’t free. Rest in peace Dave

That is very special to have someone there for when you return home from a deployment. Had my family waiting pierside in Norfolk March 9, 1983. It's over 40 years and i remember it like it was yesterday. They too will always remember.

It certainly melted MY heart. I always had a very soft spot for all the Veterans who so bravely work for the country, work for all of us. Good ole Nelson Blvd Gate 1 Fort Carson, CO. I remember coming home from Afghanistan in 2019 with this same ovation but it was snowing HARD that day. That’s how I remembered it and the troops still showed up for us despite the snow and icy roads.

My dad was stationed at Fort Carson in the 1950s. Everyone on my dad's side served. Some of us are carrying the tradition, 4th generation.

I personally want to carry my family tradition but I was born with a disability, I’m partially deaf and that keeps me away from joining the military only because I am afraid I would get turned down because of it. And I do have a past medical history of Depression that was so bad I was sent to a mental rehab, but I’m still trying to study the ASVAB so I can do better each time I try the practice test before I do the Actual test itself.

My husband served in the Marines and nearly 30 yrs as a LEO, the last 12 on a motorcycle. Believe me he would have been the first guy to shut down the intersection and stand at attention by his bike for these returning heroes. Welcome home to our sons and daughters! ❤🎉❤

The same one the government created on Middle East like ISIS,Al Qaedas,The Taliban and much more rebels groups to fight against theirs own government that way the USA can have control over them offering military protection for resource like Oil,Gas or a military base ???? that’s how we should treat others, with respect no matter what job, including police officers(non-corrupt), firefighters, priest, Boy Scout/Boy Scout leaders, soldiers, hospital staff, first responders, and the other heroes who provide protection and services. I will always salute those who serves their country for good.

I was station there at Ft. Carson, back in the 80s. Very proud of law enforcement to honor the fallen. We know, when we raise I our hands to take the oath, that something like this could happen. Freedom has a price, which many Americans forgotten or just don't care anymore. Thank you for your sacrifice! There's are many who still appreciate all that you do! I salute you too!

@Ash To remove terrorists from power. It affected not only the people living there but also people in the states e.g. 9/11. So yes, you can protect your home outside of your home. Without any troops in the middle east the terrorists would gain popularity and would be a way bigger danger than right now. Are you one of these guys that think they invaded Afghanistan for Oil?
