In 2014 I used to take the Q44 bus from the Bronx to Flushing Queens and I would get on the 7 train. Then I would go shopping at that Joyce Leslie that was on Main Street, I seen a little Mexican girl drinking this slush drink and I wonder what it was because it looked so good. That’s when I learned about the CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, I would always buy the Mango Slush with Bubbles and I love the Bubbles. They use to have them all over the city but a lot was shut down due to COVID but I love those Mango slushes. ❤❤❤❤❤

Same here. I lived in Parkchester and would visit my grandmother in flushing. We would eat Chinese food and I would buy vegetables.

Oh my goodness!! I used to live on Union street on the mid 90’s, very nice neighborhood, I truly enjoyed living there. My son was born in 1996, Flushing hospital. He is proud that he was born in Queens, Flushing NY.. excellent report from back in the past and now… ❤❤

Unbelievable lolz. I literally used to work one block over next door to the Social Security office. Worked at Cyracom from 2018 to late 2022. I loved working in flushing but that church on that corner I would go in sometimes during my lunch break and sit around relax if nice outside sit on steps.

Aside from folks in the PJs, I bet it's hard to find families from 1983 still living in the same neighborhood. It's mostly newcomers post 1990. Of course their perspective will be different than those in 1983.

Went back in 2003 for the first time in 30yrs. I was so disgusted and mortified, i swore i would never go back. And i havent and wont. My grandparents embraced the country, learned the language and assimilated. They didnt try to change the country into what they just left.

Flushing is overdeveloped with no end in sight. We now have another Beijing in our own backyard. I'm sure Xi Ping is very happy that the CCP is flourishing here in America. When my ancestors came to America they embraced the culture not replace it.

Flushing was always diverse from its beginnings with ethnic Europeans and African Americans making it their home and then other ethnicities replaced them as previous generations either passed on or moved to the suburbs or out of state.

I remember going to Main Street Flushing as a child in the early 1970s, came back in the early 2000s and the change was so dramatic and not in a positive way. The overcrowding and filth was so evident. And as far as all of this reported “diversity” goes, it’s a smoke screen…..it’s all Asian. I didn’t see any white, hispanic or blacks on the streets…..seems like they were all pushed out.

I dont even like getting off the 7 sometimes because all of the asian invasion out there. Its like there's hardly any regular stores around. But nyc has allowed this to happen when they couldve nipped it in the bud from the start.

I visit this area quite often because I work in flushing sometimes and usually in the Main and Flushing Ave area. It is definitely overcrowded and can be a little overwhelming sometimes but you can get a lot of shopping 🛒🛍️ done 👍🏾 for pretty reasonable prices.

Flushing isn't overcrowded. Main Street between Northern Blvd and Cherry Avenue is crowded. Pretty much everywhere else in Flushing is wide open with lots of space. You can walk with your arms stretched out and not touch anyone for blocks. So unless you're only in that section of Flushing, that doesn't apply at all.

Increased labor pool and higher demand for housing make rates unaffordable. Not exactly the American dream many think it is. The migrant crisis only exacerbates the situation.

I lived in Flushing my whole life. Lets not pretend its better than it it is by people who have no clue. They notice the immigration but dont mention the undocumented aliens issue. The community is poor. The area is dirty and overcrowded. Takes hours to find parking. This video is tied with a pretty red bow and is not complete.

You either don't live in Flushing or you only stay around Main St and Roosevelt Ave because Flushing is one of the cleanest and most open areas in NY. Flushing isn't a poor neighborhood, you're living in the poorest section of that neighborhood. It's REALLY easy to find parking in Flushing as long as you're not by Main St it's pretty much as easy to find parking as it is in Manhattan and once you're closer to Kew Gardens there's parking everywhere. Flushing's Chinatown/Koreatown is not all of Flushing and were you to count all of Flushing then yeah, there's a lot of undocumented Russian/Polish/Ukraini immigrants as well as the Asian ones you're probably referring to. But that's what going to happen in the most diverse place on Earth. SMH

This seems to be about personal perspective related to living standard comparisons, expectations, how frequently you visit & when. That Russian area you mentioned is not in Flushing. Sure parking is great if it's daytime... but I'm referring to the evenings after coming home from work. Do you know that Flushing had gardens with flower patches? Do you know there were amusement areas such a movie theaters and arcades? There were less people drinking & sleeping & spitting in the streets? As I said before, I've lived in Flushing for decades and have seen it's slow indisputable decline.

It's still a great place to live.excellent schools and some wonderful public parks and & wonderful people..but the corrupt unReal Estate developers and their greedy local politician friends are ruining Flushing..

Let’s not pretend. Flushing went down the toilet. I went back after almost 40 years to visit and it was a horrible experience. Too many people! No one pays attention to street lights, there are clothes hanging out of windows, it was filthy…I didn’t even feel like I was in America. It felt like a third world country.
