In this video I will be testing and reviewing CCI's Quiet, and Suppressor in .22 LR loadings. I will test them both in two of my rifles, the Remington 581, and the Marlin model 60.

A great follow-up to your recent .22 CB Short presentation. As expected, more useful information, well-presented. CCI continues offering very interesting and useful niche ammo in the rimfire genre. Your demonstrations clearly establish minute of bushytail capabilities. That 45 grainer CCI Suppressor HP produced what may be the most perfect mushroom I've ever seen! You've just sold some more CCI ammo... They should sponsor your most worthy efforts! Well done, Sir. Pax

CCI is fantastic. Thanks for bringing attention to what they do for us. I also appreciate all the other ammo manufacturers stepping up with many new rimfire offerings as well. I have a ton of different loadings of CCIs in 22 and 22 magnum. I also have a considerable amount of Hornady 17 HMR. I have loads of Federal 22s, 22 Magnum, and 17 HMRs, as well as Winchester and Remington in both 22 magnum and 17 HMRs. I also have a decent amount of Eley and Aquila in 22. I use rim fires more than anything else, and I appreciate all the manufacturers paying attention to us and giving us such fabulous performance and new technology with their rim fire ammunition. I also appreciate you making these videos. Thanks

Thanks for sharing. I've used CCI Subsonic 40 grain for quite a long time. It is one of the most accurate .22 cartridges I've tried. However I've just recently learned about the CCI Suppressor 45 grain so I've ordered some. It is more expensive than some alternatives, but I'm hoping the lower nominal speed will ensure that I don't get the occasional supersonic crack that I've experienced with other so-called 'subsonic' ammo. I was pleased to see that the Suppressor 45 grain grouped quite well from your rifles. Best wishes from New Zealand.

Enjoy your videos, particularly on 22s. Remington 580 was my first rifle. 1973 mahogany stock. In the last decade I realized just how good these rifles are. Recently got a first year 581. Both are tack drivers. As far as CCI goes, both love the standard load and CBshort. For some reason the CBlong isn’t near as consistent. Going to look for some CCI quiet. Thanks

I really enjoy your .22 videos. Because of you I pulled out my old Glenfield 20, then my wife liked it so much I had to get her a bolty too, now the slope is getting steeper and slipperier. We're waiting on her new MKII to arrive. LOL

I recently had a chance to try the Quiet 22 in an old 550-1 Remington I inherited from my uncle. He had got it from my dad who died 20 years ago. It loved the quiet 22’s.

I agree that the CCI Suppressor 970fps ammo makes a noticeably sharper and loader pop than the 835 fps quiet ammo in my Savage Mark II FV-SR bolt action. But when I put the suppressor on it, the 970 fps ammo seems slightly quieter than the 835 fps quiet ammo. I have no explanation but that's the way it is in my rifle.

Interesting to see the comparisons. I’d like to give the 710fps CCI Quiets a try in a 22 bolt action rifle or lever action. My ears might be ok with that.

I like the CCI suppressor ammo. 'I fired 5 rounds out of my Ruger American 22 LR Bolt Action rifle and averaged 1,022.4 fps. Really accurate, too. i used my Xero Pro C-1 Chronograph. My rifle has a legal suppressor on it and, man, it is quiet.

good shooting Tom, I have found that the CCI AR22lr cprn work great in all my semi auto guns sig 1911-22 pistol says HV ammo and anything less turns it into a single shot pistol my Marlin 60 and my Ruger 10-22 are a little more forgiving

Hay brother I know this is completely off topic. But you did a video of an creature of some sort making noise out in the woods when you were hunting. I couldn’t hear the noise but judging by how you left I believe what you might have heard was lynx cats or feral cats fighting or trying to mate. I seen a short video on Facebook and everyone was explaining that it was lynx cats. The sound was definitely scary it sounded like a female woman screaming like she was being killed.
@CumberlandOutdoorsman
@CumberlandOutdoorsman 2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. I guess it could have been a feral cat or bobcat because I'm too far south for Lynx. Anyway it was a long drawn-out howling that I have never heard before. It seemed out of place to me. Thanks for the suggestion, and for your support.

@@CumberlandOutdoorsman I couldn’t hear what it sounded like in your video. But long drawn out howling that’s not bobcat what I heard in that short video wasn’t howling. At any rate I enjoy your content Sir please keep it coming

Oil them.

I live in Tennessee, so the humidity is pretty high here especially in the summer. I use a soft rag, preferably cotton, and mildly soak it with mineral oil. This oil is very inexpensive (around $2.00), and available at Wal-Mart. Every time I put one of my guns away, I just wipe it down with that rag. Occasionally, I go to my gun storage and just wipe them all down again.

Try G96 Complete Gun Treatment. I’ve been using it for at least 50 years and am completely satisfied. Read the instructions, especially for long term storage. Not my favorite lube but it works great to protect your finish and flush dirt out of hard to get at places.

They are 1.5 inch targets. The 580 series Remingtons were considered a no-frills, plain Jane working man's rifle. Nothing fancy, just solid little guns. Thanks for your comment.

I would like to add that the .22 subsonic hollow points are quite effective from a rifle out to 50 yards on marmots even with chest shots. You can hear the impact and they are deadly. So rabbit and squirrel hunters have all they need with subsonic loads and do not really need the high velocity ammo. Use the high velocity hollow points in handguns and it is as effective at 25 yards as the rifle shooting subsonic hollow points at 50 yards.
@B35point1
@B35point1 6 ай бұрын
Problem with my 18" barrel is that is pushes the "subsonic" stuff super sonic. It's essentially just standard velocity; same grain and same FPS.
