Out of my Marlin 60, 10/22, and a Sig 522 the Super Colibri's go "tick". The CCI's are a wee bit louder than my airguns (RWS34, Benjamin 392). Precision wise the Colibri's are all over the place past 10 yards.

Great video, thanks. I have an 18 yd. back yard range with a .22 trap. I fired thousands of Super Calibris out of my Savage Mark II and regular Calibri's out of my S&W 617 with a 6 in. barrel. (Supers are too loud out of the revolver) I try not to upset my neighbors. I've tried CCI 'quiets' but they seem loud but accurate, I tried Remington CBees and they seem quiet out of the barrel but bang when they hit the trap. So I loaded the trap with shaved tire nuggets from Lowes. I'll try to find those CB longs next. Never give up!

So you're saying the Super Colibris are signficantly quieter than the CCI Quiet-22s? I have not been able to find the Super Colibri anywhere, even online (any ideas?). I have used the CCI Quiet 22 from rifles and have been really impressed at how quiet they are and still have plenty of energy for pest control, but I don't usually need that extra power for just plinking in the yard.

I was told by a company in Texas that deals with the Mexican company Aguilar that those rounds weren't being produced right now for some reason. That was a couple of months ago. You might be able to find that outfit I spoke to and maybe they will tell you more about what's going on. If I can find their no. again I'll post it. They recently changed the back yard range law in Florida so I've been using my regular Colibri rounds sparingly. But they're not as much fun as the Supers. 375 fps compared to 500 fps. This is the phone number I think I called 888.452.4019, Good luck. Info@AguilaAmmo.com

the super colibris are quieter, but lacking in accuracy and Henry says not to shoot them through their rifles, as they are powderless and its possible they could hang in the barrel. The cb shorts have proven to be my favorite round in my henry cause it holds like 22...so much fun!
@cavsarge6914

I have to agree that they aren't as accurate as the other brands but after thousands of rounds fired I've never had one hang in the barrel of either of my Savage Mark II's. They are pretty accurate at 18 yards but every magazine of 10 rounds maybe one or two will be off an inch or so. But for an old twice combat wounded Viet Nam vet I can deal with that OK. I love taking the big guns to the local range but you can fire up a few hundred dollars of ammo in no time. The VA doesn't give me that kind of money.

I just did a by-ear sound test of the Aguila Super Colibri, CCI CB Short, and CCI Quiet-22 out of a Glenfield model 10 (just about a 22" barrel) with a metal sided wall just a foot or two next to me and Quiet-22 was louder than the CB Short by a little bit. More of a hollow pop noise than the snap of the Shorts. The ASC's were, as always, the quietest. From what you can hear on this video it sounds about the same as what I heard (minus any microphone cut-out that may have happened).

The biggest difference between these rounds is not the sound, they're all quiet, but energy produced. The CCI quiet rounds are 40 grain at 710fps. They carry more energy downrange than the others.

The CB Shorts, I believe, have some powder in them to get them past the 700fps envelope (CCI CB Shorts run around 710fps on the box). The Aguila Colibri and Super Colibri have only primer in them so they'll be much more quiet than CB Shorts or CB Longs by default. Colibri run around 300fps while the Super Colibri run around 500fps maximum from what I've learned. I once got a regular Colibri stuck in a 6" revolver barrel but it was pushed back out pretty easy though. lol.

+ALIENWarriorX I just tried the Remington CBee. 33gr HP at 710 FPS from a shorter barreled Henry. Again 1 shot killed a raccoon in my garage. It was slightly louder but still no problem at 3:00 am. Probably due to the shorter barrel then my Golden Boy. I should have bought more since they aren't available anywhere now. The only ones available are Aquila Super Colibri and CCI Quiet for outrageous prices on the auction sites.

I have taken them all apart, and weighed the powder. The Colibri has no powder. The Super Colibri has 0.5gr of powder. Both the CB long and short have 0.6gr of powder. I forgot to write down the CCI Quiet. Stingers had 1.6gr. This can all change though because the manufactures readjust the weight because of slights variations in the lots of powder they receive. They lab test every time a new lot of powder comes in....at least that what the cartridge manufacture told me.

S&W M&P 15 Super Colibri was extremely quiet. The bolt moving forward was louder than the round going off. At 600 FPS it does a number on large rats out to 30 yards.

For accuracy, quietness and knock down power the CB longs are the best in my opinion. Awful difficult to get nowadays though. Aguila's are as quiet but have less power and accuracy. CB shorts are actually louder ( for some reason) and not as powerful. I've used Savage MK 2 and a Winchester 67A bolt action ( crazy accurate with the Winchester). Good luck guys.

The cb short n cb long are only different by the case size, 29gr 710pfs. Neither is any more powerful than the other unless you run them over a crono and see a velocity difference. I’ve taken lots of backyard critters with the super colibri from a m-6 scout, they are so quiet the impact to a hard surface is louder than the report. Many squirrels have went down to those.

The cb short and cb long are supposed to be the same velocity and energy. But from my own testing, I've found the cb short to be both louder, and slightly more powerful (shooting aluminum cans at 15 feet). My testing is not scientific, but it just seems like the cb shorts have a little more "umph". Perhaps they build up slightly more pressure in the smaller case than the longs do.

IMO, they all sounded the same when shot into dirt. However, the Super Colibri was definitely the quietest when impacting milk jugs. This would make sense considering the Aguila round is using a 20gr bullet @ 500fps. Whereas the CCI's are all rated @ 710fps using bullets of 29grs and 40grs... they will simply hit harder. Any of the 4 should be fine for quiet plinking. I prefer the 40gr CCI Quiet 22LR myself. By the way, you got a sweet rifle there in that Henry. I too own that same model and a Golden Boy. They cycle smooth as butter and are very accurate rifles. Enjoy!

The super is going in the 700s FPS. It has the 20 grain bullet so requires less powder to make it go seven hundred so less noise. The regular colibri is what you’re thinking of at 4 hundred something FPS. The CCi quiet is a full 40 grain so is powered a bit more and likely is more accurate out further. Super C is only good within like 100 feet or less.

@@BeefNEggs057 Thanks for catching my blunder. Lol! My eyesight is bad so I probably read the stats wrong somewhere. And I only use 22LR cartridges with bullets weighing 36grs or more. From my experience, the other stuff like Shorts, Longs, CBs, etc. are hard to find, more expensive, less powerful and marginally quieter than the CCI Quiet's I prefer.

Standard Colibri will get stuck in a rifle barrel. I stuck one in an Anschutz target rifle, fortunately I did not see a hole in the paper so I knew I had a squib like situation. Colibris are for handguns. CCI Quiet LR is my favorite, CB longs are second.

It has similar report to my Hatsan 135 QE vortex .25 caliber break barrel air rifle which I shoot H&N 22 grain hornet pellets from with about 29 or 30 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle. The CCI quiet .22lr is only about 10 more foot pounds of energy and the cb short and long are very similar ballistically to it. I have a couple of videos uploaded on my channel of me shooting it. One video is me sighting it in and adjusting the rear sight shooting at a 22 inch flat screen HDTV. Most of the pellets penetrated through the TV from 20 meters away. The other video is me shooting a steel target from the same distance a month after the first video

I noticed that the .22 short is louder than expected too while testing it in my Savage bolt action rifle. The Super Colibri shoots poorly in my long barreled CZ 452, but really well in the shorter barreled Savage. I have some of the CCI Quiet but have not tested it yet. I did find the Winchester .22 Long CB Match to be somewhat loud, but better than the CCI short.

if you do get a pellet rifle, do yourself a favor. spring for a PCP. i have a few spring rifles ranging from 100$ up to 300$. wish i had just gotten a PCP - the benjamin Marauder. it comes close to what a low power 22 CB would do in ft-lbs out of the box, is quiet, and way more accurate than a spring rifle. if you cant swing the 400-500$ or so for that (consider getting one as a refurb!), a close second would be the discovery, which is a lower power/caliber/budget version, i think walmart sells it in a kit with a pump for like 400$ out the door. reason i say this is because spring pellet rifles are... finnicky (thats the short version, if you want a long descriptive reason, i can tell you why lol). if i could do it all again, i'd do what i said above, or just try to find an old reliable used bolt action 22 and drop some quiet 22 ammo in it and call it a day.

I use the CCI quiet from a Henry Golden Boy. They work very well. 40gr at 710fps is powerful for what they are. I killed a raccoon in my garage with a single shot. I use them often for plinking in my back yard and the sound of the bullet hitting the target is louder then the round firing. Just make sure to keep the barrel clean and oiled occasionally. I haven't found a BB or pellet gun to match the power. The colibri is only a 20gr bullet. The super's are 510 fps and the regular colibri is around 300fps. You will get more jam ups with them so keep your ears open. You'll hear a jam and you don't want to fire again until you clear it.I use a shorter barrel rifle for the super colibri. I also use the CCI quiet from my revolver in my garage. They are louder from a revolver but I can shoot all day with no problems. I recommend you find a good old .22 rifle and use CCI quiet, hands down.

I guess it's what you shoot them in. The super colibri is so quiet from my m6 scout, I could keep the squirrels and stray cats to a minimum in a normal development. Literally a click and a THWACK!! when she hits!! Next would be the CB long or short, I just get the shorts if they are the same $ to save space when packed loose. Took 5 crows off the same limb With the CCI CB's, only reason it was 5 was because I hit a twig and that scared em. Not their buddies dropping, but a twig?! With said m6 scout so I wasn't being the fastest shot.

Well... technically the rifle isn’t ‘quiet’ it’s just a stock rifle, using subsonic ammunition and that is kind of you to compare my back yard as to a park, my kids did like that swing set. Though I’m not much of a hunter and I don’t live in Texas and Beverly Hills would probably be the last place I would ever want to live. Though my kids did once get in one little fight on their playground with kids that were up to no good, they were by the way causing trouble in the neighborhood. So my wife, their mother, got scared and told them they were moving to their aunt and uncle’s home in Bel-Air....
