These are amazing machines, Pri yon Joni is an excellent instructor. I played on SC6000s last night. I've also played on these several times in the last few months. While I can say I don't mind using SC6000s, nothing beats the familiarity and original beast that is Pioneer CDJs and the technology and innovation that got us the CDJ3000s to where they are today. The wave file display is someting I would never like to compromise on. These are industry standard for a reason.

After waiting (4) months they have arrived & I'm not disappointed at all. I've owned the CDJ 2000s before but returned them for Denons. My wait for these was well worth it, these 3000 deck are amazing, the jogs smooth , display big & clear, HID flawless, overall functionality is on point. Export still slow & sucks but that's Rekordbox overall Pioneer is the industry standard for a reason. I still have my Denon 5000s & no plans on selling with this latest engine update made them all new again. But, these will be go tos for my major shows and club tours. I have moved away a lot from controllers for use in major event, this was the extra push I needed. My gear head days have ended on these 2 rigs, major in cost but major results already 2022 is looking good thus far. Thank you for the amazing reviews they helped me decide between the CDJ 3000s and the Denon 6000s. Use Hype gear or step out the box like Laidback Luke lol. Keep up the work, you save a lot of DJs like me on gear decisions.

This is why I come to your channel for new Pioneer gear. You give a serious breakdown and add things we didn't know about a product. I went to the DJ channel you mentioned and he gave a great comparison of the CDJ 2000 NX2 and the CDJ 3000. I went to DJ Passionate channel but as usual, they have negative to say about any Pioneer gear for they ride and die with Denon. That's cool but if you going to give a showing of new gear, be a pro about it. Thank you for your professionalism.

This is a great video. Helpful and lots of info that you don’t see in many videos I watched. Thx. I grabbed 3 decks and a DJS1000. Now there are 2 things that you didn’t address and I was wondering about. 1) hot cues load with lag. Not instantly. Which is kind of a pain. Why is that? 2) why did they decide not to give the ability to gate the cue???
@priyonjoni
@priyonjoni Жыл бұрын
Hot cues load much faster on the CDJ-3000 compared to the 4-8 seconds on the CDJ-2000NXS2. The variability will depend on your file type. MP3s will typically load faster. While not completely instant like on DJ software on a computer, a typical 320kbps mp3 will load from .8 to 1.5 seconds. 8:18 of this video shows a hack on how to get gate cue on a CDJ-3000 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qqp8eqac3NiXd3U.html

Thanks for the this video and all the others. You convinced me! I have now taken the leap from the 2000NSX2 to the 3000 and all is good except....... I believe there is a glitch with the continuous play option ie there is a gap between each file played. For example, after I finish DJing I like to play a downloaded "Mix" for the chillout. This is a collection of files that can be saved to a memory stick and played continuously without a gaps (for example a Sasha "live" Mix). This worked fine on a 2000NSX2, but on the 3000 there is a gap between each file. I logged an issue with Pioneer but they said "it's not a CD player" and scratch DJs wanted the gap. I don't scratch but I know you do - as well as being a CDJ3000 expert of course - after 1,000 of hours experience by now (I have about 10!). Any views? I would be a pain to have to keep a 2000 just for this purpose. Surely it's just a software glitch..... Anyway. Thanks for the channel! Steve
@priyonjoni
@priyonjoni 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Congrats on your purchase! There was actually a huge complaint from folks, not just scratch DJs, that there wasn’t a gap. What happens is, if you’re at the very beginning of a track, and you wind the jog wheel back just a little bit; the track changes to the previous track. It’s been a thing since the CDJ-1000mk3. Since it’s not a CD player anymore, and the general use of the CDJ-3000 is to play tracks manually and individually, the gap is there to enhance the use of manual play. If you’re playing a prerecorded mix and you want it to play nonstop, just render it as a single track.
@sidekick8740

@@priyonjoni OK I get that now - thanks for explaining. I'll hang onto a CDJ2000 for when I really want that seamless continuous listening setting I have enjoyed.

Any benefit of being able to convert audio to a higher bitrate and why not just start playing with a lossless, uncompressed audio file? Does it have some sort of ai? If I understand correctly when you have a graphics image file, you can up the resolution of the file (higher dpi for example) but if the data isn't there, it just makes the image look blurry when you zoom in and you don't really gain anything since the data is simply missing. Trying to understand how the DAC converting audio to a higher bitrate would be useful in enhancing the audio. Seems like the main benefit is actually rendering time-stretched audio or rendering the real time output of things like sound effects applied to audio (asking to understand and make sure I'm not missing anything else the new DAC might be there to accomplish)
@priyonjoni
@priyonjoni 3 жыл бұрын
There is a misconception about upscaling. There are actually multiple ways to upscale, with some that prevent aliasing. In photo or video, “stretching” the image to a high resolution will result in a blurry or pixelated image as you described. However, through an algorithm of “interpolation” which literally means, “to fill in missing information”, you can make a low resolution image look higher, crisper and shower. This is how some folks can take a KZfaq clip of their favorite TV show and make it look 4k. Or how they can make a 20 or 30 frame per second footage look 60fps. In the Matrix, bullet time scenes were filmed using several cameras around the actor but the scene looks like one single camera going around. The reason it looks so smooth is because of interpolation. The computer generates imagery that doesn’t exist, in between the camera positions. It predicts what the imagery would look like between two frames or two camera positions. This was back in 1999. The reason I give this example is because photo and video is way more complex than audio. If you can interpolate something as complex as visual images in motion, digital audio is much much simpler to achieve, and can be done in real time with a powerful enough processor. For more examples, search Topaz AI. There are countless videos were folks were able to successfully upconvert and double the frame rate of lower resolution video clips. Here is a link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qsBgapuixLCyYnU.html Also, to answer your question, why not just play lossless? Well, most music might not be available lossless. And even if they are, most aren’t rendered at 96khz 32 bit. Plus the process of interpolation isn’t restoring the information that is lost in an MP3. MP3 compression operates on the frequency spectrum below and above the human hearing level. That’s why I low bitrate MP3 starts to lose bass and treble information. What interpolation is doing is filling in the missing sample rate and bit depth. Both of which are generally consistent for a WAV file and it’s MP3 counterpart.

On my XDJ-XZ i have the function to see key and play time playd or left inside the jog wheel. When will the CDJ 3000 update that function ? And i love to see a record function on all Pioneer high end mixers soon. Now thinking about the USB record port. Recording through a iphone with the App sucks to be honest and im a android user. Pioneer should think about this now in 2024. Only me?
@priyonjoni
@priyonjoni 5 ай бұрын
The reason time and key is on the jog on the XZ is because there is only one main display on it. The CDJ-3000 has a larger main display and when you have two CDJs, there are two of them, and are larger; leaving the jog display to be dedicated to the rotation indicator.

I'm currently using a Pioneer CDJ-3000 with timecode USB (not HID) and a Pioneer DJM-A9 at my club. I connected my MacBook directly to the mixer using the Serato Club Kit, but I can't control Serato DJ Pro in relative mode anymore. It's strange because at home, I use timecode USB (not HID) with Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2 and Pioneer DJM-900NXS2, and I can control Serato DJ Pro in relative mode without any issues. I'm wondering if the problem lies with the Pioneer CDJ-3000 or the Pioneer DJM-A9. My guest DJ is experiencing the same issue too. Any ideas?
@priyonjoni
@priyonjoni 9 ай бұрын
First, is there a reason to use DVS over HID? You have more feature with HID? Second do they have the Serato Club Kit installed? Also, HID mode does not require the Serato Club Kit. But DVS does.
@djtearies
@djtearies 9 ай бұрын
@@priyonjoni Using the USB timecode (not HID) makes it simpler to switch between DJs, avoiding the risk of unplugging the wrong USB cable that HID mode may pose. All of us have the Serato DJ Suites, so I'm uncertain why this problem only occurs with the Pioneer CDJ-3000 and Pioneer DJM-A9.

it's not correct what you say that the CDJ3000 (or any process) can upsample a 44/16 file to 96/32 and get missing information back. Or make your files sound better than they did originally. If they do sound different, it's not a result of changing the sample rate or bit depth.
@priyonjoni
@priyonjoni Жыл бұрын
The process is called interpolation. It’s not the same as recording something and plying it back at 96khz, but it is similar to the process of taking the existing information, and filling the missing information with the best guess. This is possible audio and imaging. Topaz Labs is known to do it with imaging both video and photo. It can take a 1080p image and fill information to make it a sharper 4K image. Again, the process is called “interpolation” and is the reason why the CDJ-3000 has better sounding time stretching when Master Tempo is engaged.
