Her voice is crazy good even those little runs are so clear, and the way she does resonating forte to soft airy piano voice was so satisfying. The only sad part is there's no official recording of her version that can be found either on KZfaq music or Spotify.

I cried from the first note. Those voices. Them performances. Wow! Thankyou for an amazing show. Travelled from New Zealand just to see it in late Oct 2016 with Jennifer Holliday and Cynthia Erivo performing together was amazing #blessed to be there. Thanku once again.

I've loved Jennifer ever since i heard that song. 1983 was the fist time i ever heard it. That was the song that made me want to sing, but if i could'nt sing like that to me it was'nt worth it not saying there arent any other great singers out there, but Jennifer passion is what my soul connects with the most. She truely is an inspiration and an amazing interpretor of lyric.She is to me beautiful at any size and i will always love and apriciate her no matter what. I have all her albums and love them all. And to all the kids out there, strive for to be a vocalist like this and your own style will come through, but you have to have the it thing which Jennifer Holliday has in spades.

I disagree... Heather is too stylized and not jazzy but Jennifer on this stage is the perfect choice that actually makes the most sense. I have never heard this song with the correct earthy sentimental emotion.

Heather was absolutely transcendent as Shug. What Heather has, that both Jennifers lack (and that is not shade) is a nuanced understanding of the way your voice's tone needs to communicate just as much as the lyrics you sing. Heather inhabits every vocal inflection with her full person, evident in "Too Beautiful for Words", as her effortless pianissimo just glides through the air. The Jennifers seem stuck on forte and Ms. Holliday's overzealous vibrato, while perfect for "And I Am Telling You" and the emotion needed there, is wholly inappropriate for something as soft and intimate as the song in this video. J Hud is a power belter; there is no question she's got amazing talent. But just because you CAN sing loudly and strongly doesn't mean you SHOULD in every instance. Heather's training across genres (in addition to her ability to sing in multiple languages) only increases the ways in which she can access different stylings and techniques to get her point across melodically. In my opinion, she was the perfect choice for Shug all along.

I only saw JHUD, but based on the videos she's the one that kills the vocals. Headley has better acting chops, but she couldn't fill the seats. Holliday is Holliday, legendary. Erivo is the only one we should be talking about, she was outstanding in all aspects.
