I often notice how much he loves her. It’s so obvious. So nice to see. I had a wonderful husband like that and he’s been gone 10 years now. I was 45 at the time. I tell ya, you sure do notice little things. I often sit and eat the salad bar at the grocery store here and you can sit and look out the window and enjoy your lunch. I often notice older folks still holding hands, as they walk in… it’s nice to see.

I turned 70 this year and guess what? I feel 40 or so....I enjoy life, laugh daily, love the Lord and truly look forward to each day. Age isn't the issue. Loving the Lord and enjoying each day keeps a heart and mind young. Look forward to aging...it's a blessing many don't get to enjoy:)

Amen ma’am I’m 60 years old this month and my parents died in their mid and late 60’s and I think they were young and had a lot more life to live until they got sick but I thank the Lord for allowing me to have them as long as I did . And every year that I get older I thank God for every single day of my life no matter how many years, months or days that he gives me . I hear some people complain about the gray in their hair but I always tell them that I thank God for every one of mine .

Gratitude can be a core strength for all of us. We are all so blessed - to have a roof over our heads, a bed, electricity and food. God has blessed us so much. My pastor says gratitude is a decision. Thank you for reminding all of us of this basic truth! God bless you & Matt and all the family.

We are so blessed to have a bed , food electricity. I help a few homeless people almost daily. They are sleep deprived and no way for showers. Except get in small creek until law runs them off everywhere they go.Go without food a couple days at a time. No shelter home for them In a small town. 🙏

Such a wholesome conversation. The love of the Lord and the respect for each other and those around you shines like a beacon of goodness. What is wrong with eating cucumber sandwiches? They are delicious as are tomato sandwiches. Like Tipper, I, too, am mostly Scottish. Also Irish and English. Eating cucumber sandwiches is not a class thing, but a cultural thing. My family also always stuffed a chicken or turkey with Scottish dressing made with kidney suet, oats and onions.

The neighborhood where my dad’s side of the family lived was mostly filled with relatives. It was a wonderful way to grow up. Most of relatives are gone now, but the streets are still named after them. There was always something going on. Aunt Mildred let us make homemade pie crust and play dough. Uncle Oscar taught me all the names of the trees, flowers and birds. Aunt Lila made cookies and told stories. Uncle Jerry fixed clocks and Uncle Britt played us music. Grandma babysat us and taught me to sew and do embroidery. There was usually someone to amuse you or cousins to play games with you. Thank you sharing your lives with us. You feel like neighbors just next door.🤣. I wish the world could just slow down and talk like this together. Maybe we would understand each other better and love each other more. God bless.❤️

As a tree worker on break one day, I helped an 86-year-old lady with a scooter and an ankle brace take brown bags of lawn clutter to the curb. Long story short, she said she was doing the work that we were doing that day. She explained to me two weeks previous, that she got on a step ladder and cut her neighbors low hanging branch off for her with a f%£#¥£g chainsaw. 86 years old. Never use a chainsaw to cut the low hanging limbs, as a former tree worker, (never got qualified to be an arborist) that is a super dangerous!!!!!

You both should try southern cucumber sandwiches. Recipe: Slice a ripe but young cucumber, and slice some onion. Place both in a mason jar with salt and pepper to taste. Cover with white, distilled vinegar. Leave overnight in refrigerator. When you’re ready for a sandwich, butter two slices of your favorite whole grain bread. Line with sliced cucumbers and onions from the mason jar. Eat as is or top with any other fresh garden veggie (aka tomatoes, Matt). Every time I eat sliced cucumbers, I think of my mother and her southern cucumber sandwiches. (And we’re all the same “level”) Thank you both for the glimpses of beautiful Appalachia. Blessings.

I love living in the mountains of North Carolina and can't imagine living anywhere else. But I too, love going the ocean. It is amazing how calming (and healing) the crashing of the waves can be. I always think of the verse Isaiah 40:12 “Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?"

I could listen to you two for hours. You just needed your popsicles. The wind sounded so soothing, I would love to have some of that up here in PA - it has been so hot and humid here. I just found out that most of Pennsylvania is considered to be in the Appalachian Cultural Region - my home is at the foot of the range, on a beautiful ridge. That explains how a lot of the things you talk about are familiar to me. I really enjoyed this Q&A. The part of being grateful really hits home to me. You can see and feel that your whole family is grateful for everything. You're living that life. Loving the Lord is all part of it. Grateful for the simplest things in life. Never taking anything for granted! All this is therapy for me. A good "sigh" from me. Thank you, Matt and Tipper, for sharing your life.

Really enjoyed this Q & A, Tipper. Matt's such a mess, and I love that he's gotten more and more comfortable with the camera, because he's got a lot to contribute. I was impressed once again with the good-humored give-and-take of your relationship. It's obvious you love and respect one another. I hope younger folks watch your chats and take heed. BTW, I'm going to blame it on Matt that when I went to the store recently determined not to get any junk food, out of habit I looked at the Little Debbie's display. There were those peanut butter cookies he raved about awhile back. I just had to try them, and although good with a glass of milk, they were extremely sweet. Learned later that one cookie was supposed to be three servings, lol! God bless you both for the positive, common sense values you express on your channel. You're such a joy to spend time with.

It's very common in my family too. We called my mama and daddy Mema and Papa after the grand children were born. My daughter who is now 51 was the first grandchild in 1971. After that it was always Mema and Papa. We loved them so much.

I think Matt should consider a channel (or large portion of some of your posts) for showing off his inventory of skills, such as work ethic, maintenance of his world, faith, mentoring. His voice, and men like him, are voices we need to hear from; especially for young people (many young men are rudderless in our world.) Thank you and Bless you all for what you dol.

It’s so obvious how much y’all love each other. Best friends. My wife and I have the same easy relationship that y’all have. Tipper, you are right about the age comments. I think our souls and spirits are ageless. In my Mind I’m still in my twenties, but my body will be 68 in a few days. I wish y’all the best in whats ahead for this country. God bless.

What is Matt's favorite knife? Does he have any knives with stag handles? Does he have a favorite gun? I suppose mine is a Glock 43x. What is your ideal breakfast? For me, it is biscuits and sausage gravy, fried apples, patty sausage and scrambled eggs.

Hi Tiper & Matt. Loved this video. Talking of being content we have a saying in Judaism that goes like this, “Who is rich? He who is happy with his lot.” So yes, be happy with what you have. As your Pop said, it could always be worse.

My husband had a bucket list of places he wanted to travel. I have never had a bucket list because I’ve always been happy with what I have done and where I have been. It’s so nice not to long for something but instead be happy with what we have and who we are. Such a blessing!

I love hearing about your dear girls. My grandmother and her sister were twins too, born in 1894. When they were together or spoke to each other on the phone they astounded us by speaking to each other in their own baby language that each understood perfectly. My guess as to how they were able to remember and maintain their language as adults, and as sweet little old ladies, is that they may not have had access to school playmates as they were educated by governesses and tutors. Probably was fun in that kind of environment to say things to each other that no one else could understand as they admitted they were very mischievous little girls.

A friend of mine has twins, a boy and a girl. Only mom and dad know who was born first. They have no plans of ever telling them. The twins are 11 now. It is interesting how people always ask who was born first. The twins promptly answer they don’t know. Their mom and dad decided not to tell them so that neither one holds it over the other and they also hoped it wouldn’t effect any birth order stereotypes. I had never met anyone who took this approach.
