Yes, the opaque pens are even better than what this video showed. It opens up so many options with the darker cards! 🩷

Thank you so much, Kim! I was working with this exact thing yesterday with my Joy and figured out how to change the colours at least, but completely missed the drop down setting for changing up what kind of pen it was, which explains why all my fine point work looks like its been blobbed onto the card. I had thought it might be my cardstock. I also had NO clue there were opaque pens!! Clearly, I need to go shopping now. 😂 With reference to what to ask for next ... it's hard to know what I need because I don't know what I don't know... does that make sense? I'm new to your channel too, so I've not yet had time to fully explore your videos. What I will say is that your channel is going into my favourites after today ... again, thank you!! 💗🤗

Would love to learn how to make my own Card Kits, also, could you explain the difference between the Cricut Cards labelled Insert Card OR Cut Away Cards please? Thank you for a GREAT video, these videos are really beneficial to someone very new to Cricut. x

Hey Linda! So insert cards came first when the Joy came out and when you cut the card you can see all the way through and you'll "insert" a small sheet of paper into the little edge notches so that you can see the paper through the cut. Later they came out with Cutaway card kits and it's much the same, except instead of having corners, (which some people complain about if they don't get the card on the mat just right and the machine cuts the corner off the paper) you cut the card and then attach the insert paper to the inside of the card with small strips of glue. So in both cases you can see the paper all the way through, but you don't have corners on the Cutaway cards. Great question and something I will definitely address in an upcoming video. I clicked on your link for the Nativity card. When I go to make it on my Joy, it does not allow me to change the card mat size. What am I doing wrong? I am assuming this is for a 4.25 x 5.5 card?

Hey there Oma! Yes, that is the card size I was using. Hmmm... I'm not sure why it wouldn't allow you to change it. I wish I had a great answer. If anyone else reading this has an idea or has run into this, please share!!

When using pens do you ever get smudge marks or drag marks and how do I prevent that?

Hey Mary! I would check my pen tip. Make sure there are no small fibers on the tip of the pen from your papers. Worst case you'll need to get new pens. They shouldn't leave any drag marks or smudges. Thanks so much for crafting with me and happy card making! 🩷

@@KimByers also I was watching a video and it was mentioned that they think the Cricut fonts work better than system fonts when writing with pens? Do you find that to be true?

@@glazersworldakamaryschmitt8811 I've not tested them head-to-head, but I've used many many fonts and I don't really find that to be the case. Cricut buys a ton of font licenses. They don't create/design all of them. They do however test all of the ones heavily that they accept. Thanks for crafting with me Mary! 🩷
